Speaking of songs, how come most of popular songs I currently hear on the radio are merely remakes / covers of old songs from the 70's to 90's?

When I hear all those other "artists" whining about AI threatening to take over their jobs, I find this general lack of creativity... disturbing. And even ironic. And we are supposed to support their cause while they just offer us the equivalent of re-heated 2 decades-old frozen food?

Meanwhile, Kim Wilde, Depeche Mode, Supertramp and even Shakira say "thank you" for the unexpected flow of indirect royalties, but that's the only positive thing I can find about it.
I don't often listen to the radio alymore but when I do I lsitzn to RTL2 and while alot of the songs they have are like a decade old most of the time, I think alot of it is due to human bias and me only remembering said song because I'm used to it.

You're looking for creative songs on the radio?
I'm not music-savvy but even I know big name companies prefer to sell music that follows the trends and is liked by "normies" rather than creative music that tries new things.

No, no. That weren't things I heard on a nostalgia-oriented station, but on mainstream radio. In case I didn't make my facts clear, here are a few examples that come to my mind:
  • Ofenbach - Overdrive = Kim Wilde - Cambodia (1981)
  • Sound of Legend - You keep me hangin' on = Kim Wilde - You keep me hangin' on (1987)
  • Make Sense - Enjoy the silence = Depeche Mode - Enjoy the silence (1989)
  • Kygo ft. Ava Max - Whatever = Shakira - Whenever, wherever (2002)
I know recycling is eco-friendly and all, but daaamn! Sometimes they don't even bother to find a new title.

Was bored, went over to nu, and read a couple of JP LNs. Coincidentally, two of them had characters going through the same old trope of, "can't be honest with my feelings to my childhood friend and is being pretend lovers with him". And they said the same line of, "I don't understand love and I don't think I love you but I wouldn't mind marrying you". And I know it's meaningless because of course they do actually love the MC. But somehow I wished for vindication for what my ancestors did, just marrying a friend you wouldn't mind spending your life with. Not marriage of love but marriage of friendship. There's a bunch of local literature I read in childhood. Almost every marriage depicted were not of romance. You could say they were "platonic" marriages. That greatly influenced my understanding of marriages and so when I later read more of literature from overseas, I am always confused with the notion that marriages should only be out of love. I understand now of course why that is the case, but the sentiment still follows me. Which is why it triggers me sometimes when this trope is used. Because I end up thinking, "I know how this will play out, and I know they don't mean it that way, but it seems like they're saying this sentiment of mine is a joke and is ruthlessly stepping all over it." I don't even know why I'm posting something like this on this thread, maybe to seek a like minded fellow? Or to hear other opinions?

Anyway, that's what's bothering me

Your feelings are valid!
It sucks that writers only go for mainstream ideas of romance out of lack of creativity or wanting to appeal to the majority.
I bet there are stories that would satisfy you but they're probably very niche.

For once, I have good news! Spring Break Week indeed, and a joy it is! I'm dedicating all energy to writing up a storm! Yesterday 11k words, today 13k words! I'm exhilarated! All week! Just three more chapters to go! And 1 of the 3 is already 5 pages deep.
Bothering things? Well, the fact I'm spurred of yet another hell summer to come, but more important somehow in my mind... I am quite tired.... Oh, it's 1:32am!

Woke up two and a half hours before my alarm went off with a terrible calf cramp. Got that settled down and finally got back to sleep. Now I'm up, but I'm apparently going to be limping around all day.

I think I'm slowly starting to lose my motivatio to draw.
I have been only doing sketches all day while I'd have usually by now done like at least 1 full color drawing.

nevermind, after almost a whole day of doodling space jets, my brain decided to lock in and I'm currently drawing a buff shark girl.
