I have question, it says completed on the status so it wont get any updates? And where can I read the LN?
It doesn't have an official EN TL just yet. KDT is working on an FTL, but many are annoyed by how much is still behind their paywall. Even so, everything through V5 is unlocked on their novels site. You'll have to look for it on your own, though. MD rules. Sorry.

You know, I've always hated the slapping your love interest out of embarrassment/anger trope. I'm aware that it's not meant to that serious in these things, but i still find it kinda shit all the same.
What adds even more to the shittiness is how much of a doormat the protagonist is being about the whole thing. Like, I dunno, from the very start, just answer something like “Hey, that’s Airi, she’s a friend of Kazuki.” and act like everything is perfectly normal: it’s usually the best way to get the wind out of the sails of someone who accuses you of doing something wrong.

To be fair, it was super weird that our mc just grabbed some girl's leg and started instructing her out of the blue like that

Doormat protagonists are easier to build because... Doormat. It's like the doormat the heroine steps on to glaze her for that arc.

No wonder ALL MC's are doormat. Except when they're dying epic like Kamina.

For the last 9 chapters they've basically acted like everything from chapter 17 to chapter 21 just didnt happen, MC and FMC don't really act like they're very close, literally nothing has happened with Haruki's mother and no one has talked about her either, we don't even know if she's still home with her daughter, we still don't know what happened to MCs mom and Haruki still hasnt talked to him about it.

the series got so much worse after chapter 19 or smth wtf, the pacing suddenly sped up by a ton with multiple major developments happening in one chapter with barely any build up, to the point where I thought I missed some pages of context, then it slows down considerably after chapter 21 with MC and FL having basically no meaningful interactions, MC losing most of his character, the writing having significantly lower quality in general and multiple details (like Haruki's reactions to receiving headpats getting stronger every time it happens) never showing up again. All of a sudden we get new developments like nothing happened starting from chapter 28 but it feels more like the average rom-com slop manga than anything else. Every character feels like a charicature of what they used to be and we get awful tropes like MC getting slapped over a stupid misunderstanding.

Its written like they were forced to condense all major events from FMC (like the final scene of chapter 21, where her and MC seem very close to actually dating and the scene of the actress being her abusive mom, which was built up from the very beginning but wasnt ready for a reveal yet) into a few chapters, then had everything else that was supposed to happen between those events happens in volume 5, where FMC sits them out because almost everything she needed to do had already happened. She's also felt like a completely different character for the last 3 chapters and the writing in general was filled with tropes and clichés.

I dont even know if I agree with everything I've said here, but to me it honestly feels like Volume 4 was trying to rush an ending because the manga got axed, but it got continued and now they've been trying to flop around and make it make sense. Also Haruto and Haruki's relationship is now really weird because they still know what happened and what they learned in those chapters but don't adress it and sometimes make developments that they realistically should already have

fmc does something like that and it just gets treated like nothing? this feels a little too unfair, would have dropped it if it wasnt ending in a few chapters
