Saki's position is pretty hopeless when she's living in that village, far away from Hayato's current residence. If she inherits the shrine and store, the village is also where she will stay. Would Hayato return to the village even if his mom made a full recovery?

Btw, how does that "thanks to you" work?
"Thanks to you, she's focusing on rehabilitation now." <- Person being thanked has got absolute nothing to do with it.
So, how about: "Thanks to you, she suffered a relapse and is back in the intensive care unit." Does this work as well?

That sounds accusatory though and his expression doesn't seem angry.

She either helped get his mom out of the country side or the sentence is supposed to be "Yes [she is doing well], thank you [for asking], she's focusing on rehabilitation now".

"Thank you for asking. She suffered a relapse..." <- This is just fine, is it not? Asking means the other person cares enough to want to know, even if it's bad news.

Was this MTL? Why did that old man keep referring to all the girls as boys?

The solution for having no food for breakfast is to call up one of the old people you just cooked for (presumably for free) and ask them to pick up some groceries for you in the morning.
