He can't kill but he can certainly maim, torture for eternity, and maybe even learn to polymorph his enemies. If he polymorphs them and something else kills them then did he kill them?
That isn't the problem, he knows he can overpower people, his worry is escale.

The larger the mob to go after him and his loved ones, the bigger will be the demand for finer control, and if it becomes an army, and if that army does have enough exceptional individuals that he just can't lower his firepower anymore... that is when this prohibition will get complicated.

It may seem like it is a non-issue, but the world he is living in now is chaotic, fighting is a constant of life there, and there are a thousand other scenarios that could lead to problems... what if he analyzes someone's strength wrong? What if he doesn't feel someone in the path of an attack? What if he puts the wrong amount of power into an attack?

And that is without considering that this "contract" involves his soul, he can't be sure of what is really going on inside Satan's head.

Satan says that like he can do anything, but as he himself said, Kakyuu traded his name for freedom, not his memories for subordination, that means that he should have no power over him.
Yeah, this seemed strange to me. To give the option of freedom or subservience, and then still go "btw despite choosing freedom, we're still king-and-subordinate and I get to impose rules" seems kiiiinda bs. Maybe it's a TL thing and "satan" would have control over him either way, but the other way would just be total subservience/puppetry without ego or something? Who knows.

I mean, he isn't the direct servant of the Satan. He's not on beck and call. But he has his body, because Satan gave it to him. What is given, can always be taken. So the mind reading, is probably because they're linked by the body he was granted. Unless he becomes formless, that's probably not a bond he can easily sever. Which also means, he probably has like metaphysical restrictions, beyond what one would normally assume.

And note, Satan never said, Absolute Freedom. Just freedom. So he can sort of do whatever he wants, but not anything he wants. So not like Kakyuu could ever go back to Earth.

And without more info about the crime, I am having serious doubts about what "sin", he's supposedly been sent to HFIL for. Destroying the crime scene, is also a crime. But the MC isn't shown going to jail, or to trial, or any actual punishment. Which also applies to the "revenge" killing that resulted in his death. True Crime Podcasts, probably did him in, but does that count as a Sin?

So was this the first time it was shown why Kakyu ended up in hell? It seems like he killed that woman in the news, one way or the other.
Knowing the way Japanese media treats "survivors" I'm wondering if maybe Kakyu saved a bunch of people, and they all killed themselves, due to the guilt of not saving everyone, or online backlash or something; and then when all his "family" is dead, they call him a devil for still being alive since in the eyes of the community he's a God of misfortune. You know, like all these people died because of him.

Thanks for the translation!

I feel like Satan is bluffing here, but Kakyu should actually stick to this restriction. As in, Satan can't do anything to Kakyu, even if he decides to ignore Satan's restriction, but the world Kakyu is in now still has a God, so if Kakyu causes too much of a disturbance, he could be permanently destroyed.

Then again, maybe Satan actually has some power over Kakyu because Kakyu calls him Boss, thus acknowledging a superior-underling relationship.

i dont think thats the case. considering he is confused about why he would act that way when he was being nice.

i think the guy who hanged himself killed the women. but mc did something to seemingly help him. which results in the body being found and the guy hanging himself.

society then blames his death onto mc(not legally cause he did nothing. considering that the dude screamed and cried publicly before hanging). then some keyboard warrior went and kill mc. feeling justified to do so.
This makes sense, but at the same time, Kakyu ended up in Hell. Was this really enough to make him deserve to end up in a place to suffer for thousands of years?

that depends on what/why you deserve.

example lucifer son of god and arch angel was condemned for, "doing his job." that being punishing bad people. people call him literally the devil. wicked, evil. ect.

another version calls lucifer a fallen angel. for not doing his job. of torturing people. still calls him evil, wicked and the devil.

if the condition is hate on the person thats very easy to do with the internet.
