They probably only respond when the person in the room does something big like destroy the room or try to escape

Have to agree with the comments regarding the high MP cost.

Maybe it is out MC who exclusively getting the worst kind of Spells that are impractical or something. As a spell to give you wings should not require the whole royal court magicians to cast let alone sacrificing a whole country to keep the wings for a few seconds.

It is getting beyond impractical to straight up illogical. With this high cost how did any one make it let alone cast it to test it out?

I'm gonna assume Yuuji deciding to go orbital in the span of a few seconds is what made the spell drain so much MP.
A more "normal" flight speed is probably far less taxing.

There's an extra 0 on page 20 for Yuuji's current mp making it so he has 10 million more mp than his max mp.

In a couple seconds of idling with the magic on he burned 31,451 mp. That's while doing nothing. Assuming mp cost goes up depending on movement speed would still make it too expensive as a mode of transportation for basically anyone except for Yuuji. Even for him it's probably not worthwhile unless he needs to go to the moon to overkill a dragon.

A few tens of seconds is such a clunky sentence. In the english speaking world we don't really say 'tens of things'. It's usually 'dozens of things'. It would have been better if he had thought "It costs so much that my MP will run out in less than a minute."

They might have some way to automatically determine if he's currently suffering from a status ailment or not. Then again, everyone who read the book of ethos went on to do something crazy, so despite all the protections they have on the library many can get in, read the books and then go out and go nuts.

I thought that, if they confirmed he didn't suffer from mental erosion, they would ask him some questions about the book so that they can learn what kind of content it has without having to deal with the mental erosion.

Yeah, was surprised there was no procedure done after reading. Nor even asking for info.

Damn, reading The Wandering Inn for a year and come back to these Japanese Novels makes my brain tissue dead one by one even though I was used to enjoy them before, lol.

Really? The Wandering Inn is arguably more braindead in some ways.
"I like running, so I will refuse any and all magic in a new world, and run under human power while chased by magical beasts in the wilderness between cities! Specializing in running to areas dangerous for adventurers with magical powers, where they already need more health potions from having delved so deep!"
And then there is the entire inn-keeper character.

Also, Manhua = Chinese, Manhwa = Korean

Honestly, at this point the biggest power up for him would be as simple as a trinket that reduces MP costs per casts.

Didn't he also have skill editing? Like how he manage to adjust fireball to use only 1mp?

I mean yea, but shouldn't they at least have some way to detect curse magic in the room full of cursed books where people have been known to get cursed?

Maybe it's a cultural difference. I'm Canadian and I don't think I've heard anyone use 'tens of' apart from a British youtuber (Simon Whistler).
