Yeah, not getting the upgrades he really wants but often things that help in some ways but also hinder in others is one of the unique aspects of this story. Probably one of the stronger isekai protagonists who doesn't feel overpowered, much due to the drawbacks he's acquired and facing strong enemies. Although I didn't quite like that slime thing, since it felt too much like an authored encountered.

Probably more comfortable than letting them stay and face the centipede.

lol I don't know at this point, he's been having equals amount of good and bad happen at the same time. For every single "Oh, what the fuck now!?" moment he's been making very meaningful friendships, discoveries and transformations.
Seriously can't tell if it's a curse or a blessing....
