She was actually pretty strong from the start, but she is also mainly a posion user that relised on speed and ambush tactics.
Her main way off killing prey is to ambush and poison them, and then run away untill the poision makes them weak.
But despite that she is pretty strong in a fight for a low tier monster.
And IIRC she also did have a training montage in the novel alongside the MC.

It's also hard to follow power levels when it switches between the MC and other parties, who might not be as comparable as it first might seem.

Reminds me of reading the WN of Kumoko, where the perspective swaps had... wildly different power levels. The view the characters had of the appraisal skill and Sophia's school arc are two of the funniest ones.
