Also, the Sprites are just running the Island of the Lotus Eaters from The Odyssey. According to Homer, they ate a fruit that made the consumer euphoric and never want to leave the island. Cool Greek myth reference.

we never hear from the sprites again because the author probably forgot about them, Acer is also much more explicit in his distrust of the sprites and doesn't want anything to do with them in the future

i thought aesir's gonna observe the island before giving the fruit to the sprites, but he instantly gave it to them only using assumption

I think the point of agreeing to give the sprites one of the fruits was to incentivize better treatment of humans, by requesting only human goods in return. Sets the precedent that elves will make that trade in the future (true or not). Maybe he's hoping the sprites will become less parasitic and more symbiotic in the long term?

For as well as this series has handled the aspect of "slow life," I must admit I feel kind of cheated here...

First, I was hoping he'd make that around the horn trip to the Golden Land, and at least pay visit to the other territories. That didn't happen, but we got a set up for solving a millennia-spanning conflict with Oni on the island of Totally-Not-Japan!

Nope, now we pick up the story hundreds of miles away out to sea. OK, we'll shelve that conflict for later, closer towards Ragnarok and/or Armageddon. There's now a new mystery of this colony of Sprites and the symbiotic relationship with the island's human inhabitants.

"On second thought, let's not go to Camelot. 'Tis a silly place."

That exchange verified that they are not part of the collective, and needing the fruit means no inclination to go back to the mainland. That confirms that them getting the fruit will not be against Aesir's medium term agendas.

relying on the value of human goods seems a little lighthanded to me, especially compared to how much he's meddled in other affairs, but it's also quite dangerous for him to stay since giving Aesir himself Nectar could make this all blow up.
