If the vase was given to them, not borrowed to be taken back later, they are allowed to do whatever they want with it. The only problem would be if the old man already had some plans for it.

Needs more bullying. Also I'm still really surprised on how easy going and relaxed this is. Chapter 22 and no kidnapping or village burning.

The alternative name for this series is I want a slow life in the countryside after reincarnation. The protagonist’s name is Alfred Slowlette. It’s very clear that the author wants to do nothing but show a slow life.

Which isn’t necessarily a bad thing - there are plenty of series where you can have a calming experience, but things actually happen as well. Slice of life series can have conflict or character development. Just so happens that this one does not.

My comment wasn't meant to mean anything negative about the fact it's a slower manga, if anything it's a breath of fresh air, which I'm really glad for. What I mean for it is it's staying true to the title of "Slow life" rather than just being a super action packed, something different happening every minute kind of thing.

So unlike our stupid MC the sister is actively using her magic at all times...
C'mon author, at least make the scenario believable...

Only the limitless arrogance of isekai authors could assume that native people don't already know how to bake a fucking potato.

Truly the isekai-man's burden.

and yet some stories with a title "slow life" or a protagonist who want a "slow life" there are at least 10 and it's the only one where nothing happens
so it's not really an argument

@Kevadu - they might know how to bake a potato, but a well-baked potato is still good at promoting peace and understanding.

That shit is really tasty you know, I usually just pressure cooked them and then deep frying it for one minute it will have cryspy texture outside, sprinkle it with little salt and that’s my snack.

And they are so easy to plant to boot.

I still don't get this family.
They keep taking and taking from a 10yo boy without giving shit back.
Like, what are they actually doing for him?
They don't cook for him, he's mostly doing it himself or the cook does it after he teaches him how...
They don't teach him anything useful... Either because, conveniently for them, he's too young, or because he already knows it...
They force him to learn swordplay... but that's like forcing a Navy Seal to learn to use the sling... The kid is a Nuke with legs already...
They don't need to provide shit for him, if they stopped taking his actual money away from him (the money he's making through the merchant).
They also obviously undervalue him, treat him like a child when it's convenient for them while also beating him constantly with the excuse that "it's for training".

I'm sorry, I know this is supposed to be a relaxed and slow-paced manga, but damn, most chapters are actually pissing me off, and it seems I'm pretty much alone in this train of thoughts.
I keep reading this because every other character is actually interesting, but I really hate this family...

The answer to all of that is literally "because comedy". If you don't find it funny, I totally get it, because me neither.
What I like about comics, and sometimes books, is that they're a medium in which it is really easy to skip shit. With comics, you can flip an entire page and in books you can just not imagine the stupid BS the author keeps shoving in.

In this manga, the author decided it should be funny when the MC is "bullied" by his surroundings to get some reactions out of him.
This form of comedy is so widespread (see: Tsundere) that I just don't care anymore. Just skip over it, and it's over.

This chapter was about sweet potatoes and magic, for all I care.
P.S: I do agree about the fact that the MC is so bloody OP, he's so grossly and blatantly competent and self-sufficient, that he literally needs nothing from his family. The same thing ran through my head as I went through the magic-bits in this chapter.

@aFFi Such is the fate of a second son.
