@MistLynx, no, he wasn't doing his job. His job was guarding the entrance in case something happened, and if there is an emergency, to notify his superior. She clearly stated that person's life is in danger and that altar was tampered with, yet he purposefully ignored that warning and even hit her (which definitely wasn't a part of the job).
So he is 100% guilty here, and he will get a death sentence for it without a doubt (being an accomplice of attempted murder).
There were 2 guards, the proper course of actions was to escort her with him just to make sure everything is alright, while the second guard stays there.
