Maybe that's always been the plan for when she's older (remember as a dragon she's still a minor...for one more year) but he decide rather than keeping her on the fence the whole time until then he'll spend time developing their bonds from here.

I dont really care about the race or age problem but i do find the romance too damn sudden. I dont remember them showing any intimacy towards each other in the romantic way previously at all.

I did not get ANY romance vibes from their dynamic at all until these last 2 chapters. I thought it was father-daughter or annoying sibling dynamic considering how immature Ruri's personality and appearance are. If she was a human I would peg her at 14 ignoring the fact that she drinks alcohol. But at least they didn't pull an Usagi Drop and do a switcheroo at the very END of the series lol
