Poor Moe is gonna become a ronnin at this rate

"There's always next year, gambare!"
Can you be a ronin for trying to get into prestigious high schools? I thought the modern slang 'ronin' was for university entrance exam hopefuls.

Worst case scenario, she just settles for a lesser high school. I really hope she doesn't, though. I want to see her achieve.

But I suppose she could end up a ronin in three-to-four years, when she's trying for a really great university at the end of her high school years, but fails. But, still, she has three years of high school to go through before she has to worry about that.

Thanks for the new chapter!

That was actually pretty sweet. Moeko really is a really good friend, I actually think that if Ichikawa didn't get close with Yamada, he would eventually get close with Moeko instead, especially that Moeko has an affinity towards inkya people. But then again, it was actually Yamada who noticed Ichikawa the first (sports festival at start of 2nd year).
I doubt anything more than a friendship would have developed, though. Moeko has made it very clear she likes sleazy, outgoing pretty boy types, like Nanjou-senpai (pickup-pai). Kyo (Ichikawa) is the exact opposite of that, being a gloomy-looking but good-hearted introvert. Maybe eventually she'd realize she could fall in love with someone like that, especially since she gets along so well with them (thanks to her big bro), but there's been no evidence her 'type' has changed, and I suspect the next closest to her type after Nanjou (who has moved on to high school, never looked at her anyway, and was snubbed by her on New Year's Eve) is likely Adachi (someone who has kinda-sorta expressed interest in her, if only through the whole valentines/white day sequence, even if he was still hung up on Anna at the time).

The big problem there is we didn't get any sort of actual development between them since the end of the sports festival arc where Adachi finally gave up on Anna, but then shifted to obsessing over Kyo's big sis, Kana. In the anime, the aftermath of the sports festival had Moeko drape a towel (albeit soaked) over Adachi's head after he came out of the infirmary, dealing with his 'loss' to Kyo with respect to Anna, which felt like some sort of relationship 'flag' moment, before Kana showed up and drew his attention.

The manga has had no such moment yet between Adachi and Moeko. I hope it happens soon, because I thought that moment was kinda cute, and there's a few other subtle things throughout the manga that feel like they could, arguably, hit it off. Also some volume/tankobon cover/liner art pieces depicting the whole class in volumes 2 and 3 where Adachi and Moeko were close together and interacting that implied, to me, that Norio maybe wanted to have them connect more.

People who thought that Moe was mad because she secretly has a thing for Ichikawa:
:angery:
For me, at least, she certainly has a thing for him (you know, that happen when a girl that looked down a guy before, suddenly take a interest on him just because he became the boyfriend of her more-popular-and-prettier best friend), but that actually is a moot point now: Moeko Sekine is a good-hearted girl, so she is unable to make something as hideous as betraying Yamada to take Ichikawa from her.

I still don't see how the mangaka thinks Yamada is in the wrong.

Quoting the best analysis I read about that point:
This has been simmering for a while and has finally come to a head.

Moe is not interested in dating Ichi, as a matter of fact no one has helped him interact with Anna more than Moe. Her issue currently has been the utter derailing of their study retreat.

Moe confided in Ichi about her family situation and how it affected her school decisions. I don’t even think the others know. In front of Anna, Ichi declared his intentions to go for the top school and encouraged Moe to do the same. She gets on board and wants to do a big study retreat. Anna immediately decided to join in out of jealousy. This in and of itself is not bad. What happened on the retreat is the tipping point.

Moe is really doing a lot of heavy lifting on the trip and considering she initiated the trip she’s being bowled over by everyone, but mostly Anna. They arrived and Moe specifically wanted to rest and study and Anna lead the charge to the beach. Moe even planned out the next three days of meals and cooked only to wake up and find out that Ichi blew that plan outta the water AND left a mess in the kitchen for breakfast, which is indirectly because of Anna. Also Anna spazzed about onion gratin on Moe and Nyaa which adds to the annoyance.

Now after all that, Moe and Ichi finally sit down to study and Anna, who could have went to go shopping for the groceries Ichi burned through, sat and decided to pay lip service to the greatness of Moe. One thing that Moe is, is perceptive. While I don’t think Anna was being disingenuous, she 100% wasn’t propping her up outta full kindness. She only stayed behind to watch over Ichi and Moe which is directly an insult to Moe.

At that point Moe just told her where she could get off. There were like 3 different decisions Anna could have made to alleviate this issue but they’re all kids. This is a realistic way for this to bubble up.
