There's a actually a term for something close to that: RAS syndrome! It decribes when a word in an acronym is repeated. Examples include: ATM machine (Automated Teller Machine machine), PIN number (Personal Identification Number number), and RAS synonym (Redundant Acronym Syndrome syndrome).

One of the points of this arc was getting Anis to realize her own flaws, that she hoped by metaphorically sticking her head in the sand she could live as she wanted, not considering how other people are affected. Personally I really enjoyed it.
