tN: bAKa MeAnS FOol xdxdxdXDDD
I don't understand why people decide to translate stuff and then leave random words in for 'flavour'. I understand it's personal preference and I understand that it's a free translation but it really just ruins the immersion. At least I can understand when people leave san / dono / sama etc in because it actually conveys some meaning but honestly even then you can probably just replace them with ms / mr / sir / mam / lord. This time was especially egregious because the translator could have literally replaced baka with idiot and it would be an exact fit whereas sometimes other words don't have a perfect translation.
Don't let me discourage anyone from translating, I think it's amazing what people like them do for the community and I do thank them for that but in this case, specifically because of the TN it just felt ridiculous. It feels exactly like the keikaku meme. If you're going to put a tn anyways just put the english word in the bubble.
By the way, this is not to say that discretion is not allowed or something. I actually liked the different translations used for void, beast, lord and over death. They provide individuality to the story rather than just having it be another story of 100s with maou / majin / makai etc in it. Over death particularly was a great choice for the grandfathers nickname because it feels cool without being over the top edgy like immortal demon.
inb4 someone says iF yoU wAnt To ComMpLAAin dOnT REadD iT thEN. It's a fair point but the fact of the matter is, no one translates stuff so they can just keep it on their hard drive. It's translated to be read. Things like this only make it harder to read while not really providing any benefits whatsoever. And yeah, I am dropping it anyway just wanted to rant because I'm salty seeing this kind of thing too much, especially with novel translations.
