If Raeliana is prosecuted or dies from this, Adam or our duke here can easily just off her before they have to face punishment. Yeah maybe they can't escape the country's soldiers, but they could def kill one defenseless girl before they get caught...

I mean really, they took down those monstrous beasts during the hunting competition but the rest of the people in the palace think they can hold them back from killing one girl? Only the knight captain could probably hold them off, and he's all distracted and shit. Plus, his sister died from that stunt Beatrice pulled.

Raeliana fainted because the body is rejecting her soul, because she is not originally from this world. Remembering the memories of the old Raeliana also appears to hurt her. The reason why she was placed in Raeliana's body is because the OG Raeliana made a deal with some witch to insert her soul into Beatrice's body, so she can live Beatrice's life and I believe escape an early death, like she was originally fated for. There have been hints that the OG Raeliana can only stay in Beatrice's body if her old body is killed, as she is suffering from various symptoms (pain, trembling hands, I think she's fainted once?, and the weird imagery just shown in this chapter)

Our MC Raeliana is trying to recover the OG Raeliana's memories so that she can know why Beatrice!Raeliana moved their souls, and how she did it. No one knows where OG Beatrice's soul has gone currently.

@LiquidDestroyer Yes, in the original story before our MC entered Raeliana's body, Raeliana was supposed to die and Beatrice and the ML would do detective work to see who killed her, because originally Beatrice and Raeliana were supposed to be friends.

I theorize that somehow the OG Raeliana somehow became aware of this and asked to be put into Beatrice's body. Because OG Raeliana was not destined for a good life. In previous chapters they meet up with Iosa, I guess we could call her a baby witch? Or at least someone familiar with black magic. Iosa tells our FL that when the goddess plans for the "plot" of a world, she assigns a role to the body. If the soul leaves the body early (presumably the death of the soul, altho the black magic has derailed that system in this case), the Goddess will assign a new soul to take the place of that body's "fate."

My theory (and what I guess this is likely leading up to) is that the OG Raeliana likely learned of this and realized Beatrice was destined to live a better life than her (she gets close to the duke and marries him originally after all), and probably arranged some black magic to force the OG Beatrice's soul out of the body and got her soul to take its place. Then she tried to arrange her old body to be killed.
