I don't know why people calling Aria the best villainess when Tia from Villainess lives twice exists. Tia is casually destroying everyone's life just by sipping her tea in her own room.
And it is sad that Aria has such jaded views on the relationship. Did she forget that her mother raising her without asking for any benefit in the past? She could have abandoned her long ago yet she still taking care of her. If this is not love, then I don't know what is "love" then.

Yeah she is grateful to her mother for not abandonning her.
But in the end, her mother neglect her to please her husband, that necessary move and Aria know it.
Like Aria said in some earlier chapter, her mother love her enough to help her or side with her but she didn't try to know her, she didn't ask questions about her plan or live in general.
So she is grateful and quide apreciate it but not fully understand love yet.
@Merodia Actually it is the maids putting sugar into her food. They’re starting to slowly side with her so they’re doing things to make sure Aria live comfortably because she “treats” them much better than the family members.
Anyways the gears are slowly shifting into their place...I can’t wait to see the downfall of Mielle hehe 😈
Aria told Annie something that could be true, and then phrased it in a way that changed Annie's way of thinking and broke her, but made it seem to Annie as if she came to this conclusion with Aria independently. It's called manipulation lol.
@Xevin while Aria's mom does love her, she wasn't a very good mother to her in the previous life. she did basically nothing to help her after bringing her into the count's house, and then she was poisoned and died. Aria does feel grateful for her existence but you can tell she also doesn't think of her as a great "mother" figure. Also Aria was never actually loved for who she was before, only for her appearance. It makes sense that she's jaded.
Also agreed that Tia is leagues ahead in villainess zone, but yknow they're different series and people might not read them both. And I think Aria does a really good job for having spent her entire previous life flaunting her wealth/looks, and not being a life manipulator like Tia or even Miele were raised to be.

Peoples are like that, you know being simply polite open a quite number of door mostly people people who have a thankless job like *telephone package seller by phone who used to be yelled at everyday.
This king of nice attention make people being kinder to you.
Once I had a internet conexion problem so I call the SAV, the women told me to do some manipulation but nothing work, she became anxious, I stay calm. After 40 minutes I stop her and told her to breathe and that I will not eating her, that calm her a bit. At the end of the call she tanks me for telling her "hello, thx, goodbye and not yelling at her" while crying.

@Xevin : Tia is more of a batman though. Despite her willingness to use 'dirty methods' she still have moral lining and avoid getting 'good people' involved.
Aria on the other hand is pure villainess. She is doing this for revenge, and she'll abuse anyone/anything she can for her goal.
Heck, her talk with Annie was actually meant to keep Annie chasing after the baron, by shifting her goal from "mutual feelings" (unlikely right now given how much he keeps talking about Aria as shown) to "money and status" (which he do have and will still have)
And of course Aria is doing it for herself (make the baron's ties to her tighter)
Though, a part of me hope that it'll go the way of a couple from another series for them:
In Bookworm, one guy basically is super fanatically devote to Myne (I nicknamed him the DEUS VULT guy)
The girl he eventually marries is basically him but female i.e. also fanatically worshiping Myne.
So for those two, praising the glory of Myne is basically the best way to spend time for BOTH of them...
So yeah, maybe if Annie shares the Baron's joy of praising Aria, maybe the two can happily spend time praising her instead of Annie feeling exhausted from his constant talk of Aria.
@Merodia : My understanding was that Aria's food was the only one actually using sugar (i.e. 'taste normal')
I think that what happened is that after the father bought sugar, the servants made sure to keep them for making Aria's food specifically, instead of using it for everyone's meals, after all it's not like the father will come into the kitchen to check.
And Aria is the one treating them to some nice gifts.
And the maid serving her was wearing one of the perfume oil Aria bought, basically a "I'm one of yours" sign.
Which sadly just deepen Aria's "See, it's all give and take in this world" mindset.
She is a villainess. She didn' have her redemption arc, like the "Villainess lives twice".
So, it is only natural she acts like one. Don't forget, that we see all this from her point of view, and we have a biased opinion cuz we know what she thinks and feels. But many of her actions can/are considered as being a prick/bitch/evil.
Still I'm lovin this. Yes, bring the evil and hatred, surrender to your desires foolish maid
