Neither is a good option. One of them is playing him like a yoyo, stringing him along, albeit possibly unintentionally. The other one has genuine obvious feelings for him, but as you say is very emotionally unstable and manipulative and potentially has yandere tendencies.
Thing is though, she's not stringing him along. She's not playing him like a yoyo, he's pushing her away and she keeps coming back. Their first encounter sees her offering to date him and wrapping herself around him and walking through a love hotel district. At no point has she been anything other than forward. But
he hasn't. He's always backing away, deciding she doesn't mean it, deciding he can't be with her, deciding that there's no way that they could get together, because they're from different worlds. He realized this last chapter, actually. That he's always putting up walls and then running away when people breach them. It was a core self-realization that caused him to run out the door after Azuha, but Ametella was on the other side of that door so, uh... that didn't exactly go as he hoped.
I wanted to link to the dub of super yo yo where the guy goes "I AM YO YO MAN" and the joke would be that she's not playing him like a yo yo, but he IS the yo yo, but... it's gone. That fuckin'
sucks man
If she really wanted a healthy relationship she'd offer him help so that he doesn't consider himself a loser anymore. But no, she doesn't mind keeping him at low self-esteem because he's "cute" to her this way.
You know what, thanks for posting this. Because I finally fuckin' get it and understand how people are looking at her as some sort of manipulative psychopath.
Cause, like... she literally
is doing what you want her to do. He shows up, gets self-conscious, but then they talk for a while and they both have fun, but he's like... "man, I'm sorry I'm such a disappointment, I'm a shitty loser who's never had a girlfriend before." I really felt for the guy in that moment because he was being really open and honest about how much of a piece of shit he felt like, but consider it from her perspective for a moment: dude comes to meet you, he seems nervous but you get to talking and he's fun to talk to, but then he goes "yeah well I'm sorry I'm such a SACK OF
SHIT,
FUCK." Is that... a good sign? Is that fair to
her? She didn't come to be a therapist, man. She wanted to meet the guy she's been having a fun time talking to online about a niche book they both like.
But she doesn't disengage, she doesn't go "...okay man, bye." She sits there, thinks about it, and then says "hey, if you think you're a loser because you've never had a girlfriend, how about we date?" Are you seeing what she did? Cause I'll just fuckin' point it out to you: she's offering a solution to one of the reasons he's so down on himself. The page you posted is her offering a little justification for it.
So like the whole time I had thought that people were looking at the times she actually seems yandereish and going "SHE'S LEADING HIM ON," but no. What you're doing is looking at her playfully offering to help him and seeing manipulation. But you say why. Cause, well, she should boost his self-esteem. She's not boosting his self-esteem.
What you want is for her to say that he's a sexy boy with a great body and he's so strong and so smart and so handsome and the only reason he hasn't had a girlfriend before is because those other girls are just too vapid and cruel to see what's so good about him. That he's just the best most special most perfect man and he should feel sexy and special and amazing and great. Anything else is being a MANIPULATIVE BITCH
Which is why a lot of you think Ametella, the unstable girl who practically weaponizes his pity and her awkwardness and has built up an image of our dude from reading his embarrassing novel that literally only she likes, is the better option. Because that's what she says, cause she's crazy and is working off of the idea that only she knows the real him because she read and liked bad fiction he wrote when he was a kid. But she massages his ego and tells him he's amazing and great and the best and the most special boy that only she understands. Which is
actually manipulative. She doesn't mean to be doing it, but she is. But because you guys have become convinced that male egos must always be massaged... she's not being manipulative. Them dating wouldn't be a disaster for them both, it'd be great. She's a good girl who's good for him. How could she not be? She massages his ego, which is what all men need at all times.
