Cause as he was growing he began to receive less and less praise and attention from his mother til she no longer acknowledged his existence as a whole. No matter how hard he tried to be the best at whatever he did. Whether it was his grades or whatever was expected from him. When his mother and father divorced (I forget who initiated it, if that was mentioned) because of all that, he chose to go with his father instead.
