wait what?
she know?
oh wait, she referred to her childhood crush that happen to be Masachika. both didn't know each other here until few more volume, Pretty much way far in the next volume iirc
She knew the moment he walked into the student council rooms. He was taller and more angular than the old days, but she recognized him instantly. Only the changed family name and his practiced non-response to her addressing him in Russian felt odd.

Despite this, seeing the changes in her sister since he entered her life (paralleling the changes for the better he had inspired in Maria herself just a few years earlier), she chose to leave him to her sister...until both the events and the non-events in the back half of LN 4 and her own frustration with Alisa for doing absolutely nothing with the opening made for her cause her to change her mind.

Of course Yuki's doing that on purpose, didn't you look at her? Look at this gremlin:

So, being frustated with her doing nothing whilst given the chance, Maria went for Masachika?

It's more than just that. The more time she spends with him one-on-one, the more she remembers what it was like to have that focus all to herself, the more she struggles to pretend it's fine to leave him to her sister. The student council camp arc shifts her thinking dramatically, particularly the night she sleeps with Masachika and wakes up in the same bed together. Even then, she holds on, thinking he doesn't remember her and couldn't possibly feel the same way about her that she does about him. She does hold out one sliver of hope, though, that seeing her in the places they used to go together might bring back those memories and she decides to spend the rest of her summer break visiting those places, leaving it to fate whether she pursues her own heart or gives up for good.

And fate gives her a push at the very end of V4.

You sure know a lot damnit. Sometimes I think to myself that I'll give a LN a try, but me being dyslexic is putting me of so much... Also, no cute artstyle to go hand in hand with story is just... Meh... Anyway thanks, now I know there will be lot to look forward to. But I wonder when will we get there

If you got dyslexia, maybe look into text-to-speech accessibility tools! There’s plenty out there.

No, Kuze, Yuki just happens to be a big otaku of incest (bro/sis) medias and is a troll and a little gremlin who loves you more than any of her family members.

Oof, what should I say? Guys, if you ever meet a girl who treats you like Masha treated Kuze in this chapter, make her stay with you and never let her go! NEVER! It's so rare to find this sort of genuine kindness in someone that everyone should put all possible effort into keeping such people around them. Life is crappy enough otherwise...

Also, based on that: Masha would be a much better fit for him than Alya, but it's a manga, so, eh, no realism wished!

She does.

Literally the moment she laid eyes on him back when they first met in the StuCo Room, she knew that it was her "boyfriend" Saa-kun. It was Masachika who did not recognize her at all till later, mostly because of how her hair and eye color have changed.

And because of his trauma-induced memory loss scrambling his recollection of their time together more generally.

I'm team Masha for life at this point. I'm a sucker for the "knew each other in childhood trope," and I love her character.

It's rare for the "main" girl who is in the title to be subverted, but I can still hope.

At the rate it's going already it feels like Alya will find out he knows Russian because he'll accidentally respond to something Masha says while she is there and not her.

goddamm. so basically she's willing to giving up her first and true love for her sister sakes until she find out how chicken she is to "wasting" her bf and decided to "fuck it we ball" the situation? now that savage
