I know we joke about progress, but if this actually is her admitting she likes him in a romantic sense then it’s about damn time. Took way too long.

She probably has had some sense of feelings for him for some time but couldn’t put words to those feelings. Or her question of why he is there when she is so hopeless is the whole reason she never let herself get those feelings out orreally act on them. She was afraid that he wouldn’t be cool with a girl who is like her where she shows one way at work and another in her personal life. Him saying those words to her just now are what finally made her realize he sees her for who she really is and he cares regardless.

Or the author really liked blueballing us and finally got told by their editor that they had to make SOME progress.

I dunno if she felt anything before he had moved in since he didn't really see the real her.

I do think that after he moved in and started to see the real her she got comfortable around him and started to look at him as more than a friend and potentially get feelings. We see there are hints of of this throughout the series where she does something that could be misinterpreted, but maybe she was being sincere and actually feels that way towards him. It is her whole real self that isn't as reliable that holds her back from committing to it. She doesn't think that a person such as our MC could be interested in her that way because he constantly has to take care of her AND she is unreliable. She has no confidence that ANYONE would be interested in her romantically. Plus she had an ex and I don't recall the reason they broke up (but it might be because of the way she is) so that might have skewed her perspective.

If she did harbor feelings for him that she never wanted to say out loud BECAUSE of her own lack of confidence that no one would want to be with her then the wall finally got knocked down this chapter. Her bluntly asking him why he always helps her if she is so hopeless and his response of because he is there she can be herself means that he accepts her for who she is and the realization on her face means she can now be honest with herself.

Of course, this could be reading WAY too into it and the reality is next chapter the author will pull a fast one about the like thing and we are back to square one. I REALLY hope that what I said above is the reason, though, as it would frame everything in a different light.

What's so funny is this is like the first time we get her actual view. It has always been just soft smiles etc, so even though we have been waiting FOREVER for something. It actually doesn't hit that hard bc this is the first time we get something just from her lmfao. Dammit, I am happy but frustrated.

I'm surprised no one mentioned the tears. They did not look like happy tears when she asked why he's persistently kind to her.

That, and her being perfect at work where personal connections don't go very deep, yet living alone, and her saying "this is the best I can do" alongside her confession seems like a dark mix.
