@Izaya_Onisai :
Mukouda-san doesn't want to fight or level up, he doesn't want a kingdom, he doesn't want adventures and thrills. He's a 27-year-old salaryman, not a testosterone-poisoned teenager. He wants a quiet life, a bath, the chance to do some sightseeing, wander around and see this new world he's been dumped in and that's all. He's only an Adventurer because the Guild can disassemble monsters for him to provide Fer with meat and as a source of income. If he had a choice he wouldn't bother.
The incredibly dangerous world he's now in is not a game, he doesn't have multiple lives and save points. If he gets killed it's game over for him, no return, dead dead dead. Sure he's got a Fenrir at his side but relying on Fer to keep him safe in dangerous situations 100% of the time is, well, a risk and he doesn't want to take risks. Even Fer's Barrier can be broken by strong enough monsters, even Fer can be defeated in a fight.
Safety first" is a phrase that crops up again and again in the LN translation, for good reason. Reading forward in the LN we get to see what happens to the teenage Heroes that arrived in this world with him, the ones who learned magic and swordsmanship and went out and levelled up and faced danger, treating this world like it was a game.
