I like this series when it’s a Slice of Life. Not so much when I realize that this series is about curing a curse.

I understand your point but I myself enjoy the less wholesome plot. The way Hata presents the two contrasting genres in this story is done well. In fact the questions I have keep be hooked and if I get too bothered by them, the wholesomeness heals my mind. Then I begin thinking again. Hata has been feeding us his plot in an organised way to keep us riding along the entire way of this story.

To be fair, the mask chapter (187) came out practically a year ago... he kept us in suspense for so long, I hope the plot develops a bit now.

The mask and the fact that someone had it was introduced ages ago.

There was also a suspicious guy among the crowd in Ch.206, Pg.9 from when the Emperor was being overthrown, murdered, and disgraced 1400 years ago. That guy's sinister smile has been in my mind for awhile. I assume he's supposed to be an actual character and not a cameo, considering how much more detailed than even cameo characters he is. Maybe I just don't know the series he's from, though. But it still feels like a creepy character that might resurface again, somehow.

It was Kaguya. The original one during the flashback for her story with the Emperor. We literally saw her break the system back in Ch.205. There's no mystery there. They even did a call-back image to Kaguya becoming the envoy in the very panel when breaking the system was being mentioned for this chapter (Ch.234, Pg.7). There's really no ambiguity.
