No donation for Mogami-sama? Hopefully she saved enough of her paycheck to get some good booze. A very heartwarming chapter where Goro's mom and dad are doing their best to support Goro and Kogane as they step into being the heads of the Hinomine household. A nice parallel to Kogane being trained in defense by her dad (at least, if my theory that she'll end up taking over for him proves true). Another nice parallel is that Goro must risk his tender fingies roasting the yams. Goro's dad's casual dismissal of Goro's discomfort is the most dad thing so far. Thanks as always to sarusa and Thumper.
P.S. I use "filial piety" all the time, but then, I am a huge nerd.

That heater doesn't look like it was meant for food to be cooked on top of it. But then again, if it's a family tradition, it has to work.
Well they're supposed to be cooked in a pile of leaves or a hole in the ground with fire, or the trucks use special stones. But if you can't do that, then you're supposed to do it with a wood fired stove. I guess that was the tradition, then once they no longer had a wood fired stove the a gas heater was eh, close as we've got, and now electric space heater. Yeah, you're not intended to cook there but probably hot enough right on top that they'd bake in two hours or so. Tradition!

Ah yes, the racist stereotype of cats liking milk and dogs liking bones. Anthropomorphism has gone a bit far. :)

Ok, more restraint than I gave her credit for but not as much as I was led to believe last chapted.
Fox Family Cooking: The Manga. :wooow:

(And you don't get gloves because mild first-degree burns build character. Or calluses, which are quite similar in that they both start with 'c'.)

Thanks for the chapter!
They also both have 3 syllables and an "a" in the first syllable.

Ok, I get that its technically feasible, but is cooking taters on top of the heater really a thing? This is the first Ive had a manga suggest that it is.

Remember, parents: If you accustom your son to cooking without gloves and burning his hands, he'll learn to accept unacceptable working conditions. This will lead to working at a black company, and then an early grave, leaving no descendants. Unless a timely fox intervenes, but you can't count on that.

On a lighter note: KA-POOFLE!
It's not racist if it's true!
Counterpoint: It is racist, and it's nonetheless true. :headpat:
Geez, Goro has it easy with the potatoes. Whenever I'm at my dad's I get things like, "Ya know, the shed could be cleaned out."
At least your shed doesn't contain livestock that shit on the floor... :haa:

KA-POOFLE!

I never knew you could roast things on internal heater. Talk about fancy

as for the translation for the term, I think I would go with simple "respect for parents/elders" whenever it comes. Oh well

Thank you as always for the translation, gentlemen, as well as for the notes

P.S. the grand reveal shifts to another chapter...
