I actually had a discussion with someone about this topic recently. You see the whole thing is that in our world God's existence isn't a fully provable fact and it relies on faith so when we read about a series where the people in it know for certain that a God or Gods exist we wonder why they wouldn't be extremely devote to them as we would if God just suddenly appeared one day and proved it. The whole thing is that with them God's existence is just a matter of fact thing and so they take it for granted. Rather ironically if you took someone from our world and then plop them into a world where God's existence was undeniable fact you'd probably end up with a person more devout than anyone else in that world.
Humans in our world aren't devouted at all. There's only a fraction of people that actually are.
The rest just does some good 'lip service' or claim themselves as devoted, because without there being any repercusions for their acting out, they can always fall for 'If I did something wrong, I would've been smitten!'.
Then there are people for which religion is either an excuse or source of authority.
In other words, basically nothing would have changed even if you switched up all the people from one world to another. A small population would be devoted while most would be trying to take advantage of it. And gods, unless they would be micromanaging the entire world all the time, would just let it go until someone crossed the line a step too far.
After all, do you care about some ants walking around out of your way, their fighting with other insects etc? Or is it only a problem to you if they get in YOUR way (destroy your garden, nest in your home etc.)? Yeah, that's the gist of it.
