Still a rough read but it did get better than earlier chapters but it could have easily forgone the entire backstory and just hopped into 'orphan loli gets drafted for having some healing magic and is now warloli' and you would never know the difference.

People are saying that this is just a downgraded version of Youjou senki. Here's the thing, it's not.

Youjo senki is an action manga, whereas this feels more like a survival drama manga.

I enjoyed it even though it's only been a few chapters and I think people can enjoy it a lot more if they stop comparing the two.

WN reader here, this is a hidden gem worth reading and it's almost the opposite of Youjo Senki. This is also one of the best anti-war novels i've read so far. Comparing MC, all i can say without spoiler is that Touri is everything that Tanya isn't.

Manga has really portrayed the horrors of not only war itself, but also the terrible "living" conditions of the trenches pretty well. Minus, the fact that the trenches are actually frequented by rats as well.

None the less, the manga has done a good job in fleshing out characters involved, fishing its readers in to feel for them, getting attached to the soldiers deployed in the war and never knowing when they might be killed off.

With all that is said and done. I will be following this series with anticipation whenever a new chapter comes out. Thank you TLer

Very good manga, shows the horrors of war. Don't listen to people who say it's like youjo Senki because it's a totally different story. Only problem I have is that the Isekai part doesn't matter that much, it seems unnecessary

I think this manga describe very well what happen to you at the frontline, as offensive unit.
Imagine you run through swamp with your 20kg backpack plus your equipment and your weapon (your foot stick to the ground every step), run as fast as you can like your live depend on it (it true when you ran under the rain of bullet), how far you can run before you lost conscious?
After that run, in case you don't have to fight, you have to start strengthen your newly defensive position, as dig trenches and boongke. Mind that you already exhausted from the offensive before.
And please don't compare to Youjo Senki, as it is a legend tale to solider as "Green Berets" or "SAS", "Navy Seal" irl, this manga is about foot solider, which what you are going became if war break out.
Tanya started to prepare for "her" carer very early while Touri was forced to join army, and send to frontline right after training, as you are going to be.
Unless you are battle addicted as Rodri, i doubt anyone who laughs about this manga is as same as Naridome when joining army.

WN reader here, im just here to say, the FPS gamer stuff AND the genderswap is very very relevant the later the story goes (idk why the author try to do this, it is really wierd and make people confused), you guys just to quick to judge.
Also if you like slice of life or anything that simular to YS, this is not the manga for you, dont be fooled by the tags, it will turn very dark pretty quickly and the MC won't get to be OP.

Seeing how the first arc isnt even over yet after two whole years, it will take over twenty years minimum at the current speed, and thats if they dont include the post war epilogue chapters that were added at the end of each LN volume.

I dont get why the LN is taking so long either since its just the WN with the aforementioned extra chapter at the end of each Volume and some better and more art.
