here have an entire list of abandoned mangas (170 mangas) I tend to update when I remember and have time, some are there because they got licensed and dropped by the tl teams (aka no more updates in mangadex, bit outdated so like 10 of them might have been picked up since)

if you don't know if something is abandoned or not you should, a) check when the raws last updated, b) ask the group if they can be easily contacted (shadow-sama scans has a discord in their group description, could have gone there to ask)

you did say in another manga that had almost the same issue that you didn't want to feel like you wasted your time, this applies to other groups scanning the mangas so doing the due diligence beforehand is ideal

I like how ed is sensible to realize his position as an outside help instead of acting like the messiah "chosen by god" to "liberate" this "feeble creatures" with his "OP skills". Sorry but i really hate it when authors dumb down the side characters to make the MC shine which is just lazy writing but thankfully this manga isnt falling for that trope

To me i dont really care if someone "sniped" a chapter... If the previous scan group have a superior scan that the new one then more people will go to the superior one... Sure many readers will read the earlier sniped work but dedicated readers and fans will wait, drop a good comment and send love to the original scans group....

I mean I assume they're going to show him doing some crazy shit in the tournament. But yeah waffles the hero sounds like something out of a gag manga

Honestly, I take more of an issue with the fact that, while it was in good faith (important), the sniper:
1-used the wrong metric to evaluate abandonness,
2-did not comunicate with the previous group.
The first point feels like a learning experience in scanlation as (like in most situations) the right metric not the first intuition.
But the second one is something that is applicable to relationships, work, and life in a society in general. Sending a message without expecting an answer would have been easy and wouldn't have taken much efforts.

Waffles seems really likable to me, and overcoming racism always makes for a satisfying theme. I'm hopeful for this coming arc.

Oh, and that short comic about the other group's scanlation... is the most wholesome kind of grumbling I've ever seen over this issue. Yeah, readers unfortunately mostly don't pay attention to details and just read what's most convenient... It's probably apt to compare them to ungrateful children, but well, parents still love their kids even though they're often like that. Thanks a lot for your hard work!
