we are in the Makoto is too naive arc.

and I think it's good to remember, he and by extension, the other 2 heroes are just kids

even with super human strength and knowledge, they are still just kid.

He is gonna get humbled REALLY, REALLY hard in the next one or two chapters

because the merchant friend of Rembrandt, the representative guy pointed out directly that

he is a kid that cosplay and larp as a business man. Basically schooled him so hard, he get hella depressed.

the rep guy and his employees are fine later on, he is actually a much better guy than Rembrandt, believe it or not lol.

but yeah in this arc, Makoto got play by Rona, the demon

he got play by this lady, Sairitsu

got play by Rembrandt, he basically shield Makoto right now, till the right moment, from meeting his friend cause he know the representative guy is gonna cut him down to size

not to mention, if you think about it, with how each of his entourages has their own idea about how to groom him (looking at you, Tomoe), you can argue he got played by them too.

The only different between him and the other heroes are how strong he is and his closest circle isn't shitty peoples from Gritonia.

Thanks for the translation. Is there a reason why the text looks blurry in this chapter? It was sharper in the previous ones but now, it's a little straining for the eyes.
Hi~ Gotta say, god bless your eyes lol
yes, you are right! Texts box area is a bit blurry and is straining to the eyes if someone notices
Its because I created a typesetting/cleaning app to help reduce my workload (side by side raw/cleaned so i can just see the raw and tl instead of going back to check repeatedly, and few handy font/text tools) a few months back, and recently some change broke the export tools or text tools idk! I will try to fix before next chap....

Good to know I was not hallucinating. Thanks for the answer. And don't worry about my eyes, they're fully healthy. I'd even say not noticing (especially after knowing it's blurry) would be a clear sign that it's time to go see an ophtalmologist. So clear warning to people reading this comment. :worry:

Also, good luck in fixing that. Do you plan to fix this chapter too? :glee:

Honestly I was about to start the novel but now I'm reconsidering.....
In the novel, Raidou doesn't know who Sairitsu is, or the power she holds. His understanding of Lorel is very basic. In their first meeting he just treats her like some kind of minister or diplomat for her country. It isn't until later he learns she's essentially #2 in power. The attendant of the priestess is essentially the chancellor of a young king, the chancellor holds all the political power.

This version isn't that different, he doesn't show that much of a different reaction and he still hasn't connected the dots. She's a bigwig, and she's connected to the priestess but he likely hasn't differentiated her level of prestige yet. But I like how his thoughts in the paneling are laid out, along with the reactions of everyone else. It's a much cleaner presentation of the events in the party, where in the novel chapters like this have to be presented in two parts due to the difference in PoV and the thoughts of other characters have to be written in different sections.

She baited him... into what, exactly? He already told her he knows the language, and she just verified he indeed knows the meaning of a single kanji he proudly displays as his business logo: what exactly has she learned from that?

He knows more than he is letting on by a wide margin. Which she infers to him being a Sage, and so it is within her purview to relocate him to her homeland.

It's like knowing the difference between to, too and two. She confirmed he doesn't just know the language, he's fluent like a native of it. Even in Lorel those who learn the "sage script" aren't raised on it, it's a language they learn for academics and religion. It's like Latin in Lorel. Except unlike Latin here, it's only used in Lorel and only by higher ups in the country. Though the culture in Lorel is heavily influenced by Asian culture.

It's not the same: he didn't demonstrate any finesse, or intricate knowledge of the language. He just knows the meaning of that single kanji, and it is the name of a plant. He could just have found a picture of the plant and the kanji under it.

It would be an entirely different matter if it is the name of a plant that doesn't exist in this world: in that case, yeah, he just fucked up...

If he didn't have fluency, he wouldn't correct someone for a meaning difference. It's exactly like knowing the difference between to and too or there and their. She's like, "Your shops' name is fitting, meaning medicine leaf" and bro comes in and says, "Nah Kuzu is the name of this specific type of plant not medicine, that's a mistranslation." She's proving he's fluent and can spot mistakes in a script that she believes only other-worlders would know.

Dang girl just because you never miss the bullseye doesn'tean you can just call our man Makoto ugly like that lol. And boy oh boy that girl hit a trigger and instantly pissed off Makoto into giving her his psycho stare, which isn't easy and suicidal to attempt, but she should be glad his goofballness self-reporting calmed himself

They don't have to necessarily do horrible things.

It's a very common trope that their protection would akin to a birdcage. Otherworlders can go in but they are never allowed to leave, in the name of protecting otherworlders. Naturally said otherworlders should share their knowledge of the otherworld as a show of thanks for that 'generosity'.
That's exactly right. Laurel does generally protect otherworlders and places them in a priveleged position, but they do so with the goal of monopolizing them and their knowledge.
