Yeah, no fight needed. He just need to tell Halfdan the story and Im sure the latter won't risk bringing the wrath of Thorkell because of a slave. He will probably just demand payment and let him go.

...we skipped Constantinople, the varangian guard and Greece for this trans nonsense. I should have dropped this when based Hox did, at least he spared himself the last few miserable chapters.

Well, into the dropped bin it goes.

Everyone in this family is such crybabies... love them all.

I am not surprised that Thorkell family drama had this type of turn.

Yukimura gotta get his shit together for the next manga he does.

Skipping the entirety of Rus', Greeks, Varangians, trade hijinks on a years-long dangerous journey to an unknown world where even Lucky Leif hadn't travelled to, forget about it.
Gudrid breaking the viking tradition and becoming a woman sailor, having to step up to the challenge? Forget about that story arc. She's a "make funny faces in the background" romantic interest, now!
Those two ruin the Halfdan arc, by the way. We don't get to see his principles questioned and overturned or proven right, because of those plots being simply dropped.
Baltic Wars making a mockery of the feared, mighty Jomsvikings...
What should've been Thorfinn's PTSD soul redemption plot, too, is now non-existent. The inner regrets are no longer a thing, the past haunting him now replaced by... A literal revenge assassin character. Yeeeeeeeeeah...
She hasn't changed at all since she was when introduced, after the years' long journey into dangerous far-away lands, by the way. The only thing that happened there was "Leif now walks with a cane" and "Thorfinn made a baby at some point". Other characters were in cryostasis, or something.
Remember when Thorfinn couldn't even sleep at night without horrific nightmares? Don't pay any mind to that, anymore. He's fine. He's in love now! And he has a kid! No longer dragged down into hell by those he murdered, forget about all that! No longer haunted by Askeladd's wise mentorship, either.
Oh, and Thorkell, too for that matter. Remember when he actually seemed somewhat wise and wasn't a comedy relief BIG MAN STRONG WACKY FIGHT FIGHT? Thorkell turning out to be a moron who took zero part in raising his own son (whom he never even mentioned in hundreds of chapters, by the way) is the straw that break the camel's back.

It's just too much. Dropping this manga hurts from how damned good it was for so long, but Yukimura really screwed it. What a shame.

@mottwww he skipped nothing, nothing happened in the travel they just sold the horns,if you read chapter 167 you should remember that thorfinn is still haunted by his past, and should have noticed the scars in gudrid hand that shows how she is dedicated, she's a strong girl.
you don't even remember who Karli is.
