When the truth hit hard, but there is anything that can be done...

Maybe the slime will somehow fuse with the doll and making her able to take energy from regular food ?

Or maybe he'll do the most Isekai thing ever and tumble down the stairs in a dungeon after slipping on a banana peel and coincidentally discover some secret room full of the Hyper Advanced Technology from Magic Atlantis after which the doll are based on and that will repair and upgrade her or he'll fumble into a way to make her a real girl.

Wait ... who's THIS arsehole? Maybe my brain blocked him out. Is he the one they replaced the MC with? Maybe I should read the story again.

In other news, my gutter brain has the perfect solution. Douse her with some 'holy' water and somehow make her a 'real' girl ... Hey if that guy in the other manga can use his 'water' to enslave girls then we can have a contrived plot device that will Pinocchio her. Please, don't EVER listen to my gutter brain. He's just here for entertainment ... maybe?

It's a bit strange to me that the dolls would just die like that. From what we've seen, magic crystals are just sources of magic, like batteries, and not something that would also store information. So it seems like it'd make a lot of sense to create something that took multiple crystals, so when one died you could slot in another (while the other one would keep powering the doll in the meantime), letting the doll work continuously.

He showed up in another teaser a few chapters ago, where he was just zapping his doll princess for fun. I don't think MC was replaced by him, he's just another summoned hero who's probably just here to show how evil some of the heroes are.

I can’t remember for some reason but was that whole part about how a bunch of girls were put to sleep while bathing ever solved or was it just put to the side?

Ahh, yeah, the slime, I miss that one...
Just hope the slime can help, not just fuse, so he still got both of them...

That's a really dumb design for the doll princesses, the moment their batteries empty, they die?

What a waste of resources, though it's not like modern smartphones aren't designed like this. Removable batteries aren't really a thing anymore for those.

I feel he might have been the hero that came before him. The one he picked up the piece of paper that had someone stats in the first chapter.

At least a smartphone's battery is rechargeable, allowing them to last a few years at minimum. These doll's magic crystal are more like those awful disposable vapes with lithium cells in them that can't be recharged without gutting the vape to get at the cells and then rewiring the cells to a charging port which isn't easy because the cells are often soldered in!

I'm personally hoping the MC figures out how to switch out the magic crystal with the rechargeable version. He'd probably need to hook her up to an active magic source while doing the switch so she doesn't experience any downtime which'd risk her losing her memories or outright dying. Whether or not the author has the MC do this is what we'll find out in the next few chapters most likely.

It's good and all to want to add drama, but you dont build up the reader's attachement to a character wtith a handfull of chapter of nothingness...
Yes she will die, but so what? We barely saw them interact, she nearly never talk, they barely have any relastionship past the fact that she was given to him.

True, the MC has shown to grow attached to Nina, but with the only evidence we got from their relationship being the allotted time together and what we've seen so far in the present, there's not a lot for us to get invested in, not even a fraction in the degree of drama that Plastic Memories spurred in the anime (at least as far as I've heard, I've not seen it).

Moreover, Nina's a living doll, which comes as close to a robot with AI in this fantasy world as it can get. It would be difficult to show compassion and sympathy to something that's on the literal borderline between a person and an object. For a large number of people, even the readers, Nina would lean more to the latter of the two, specifically a very multi-functional tool.
