I actually vehemently hate this ending because everything about it is objectively less compelling than the entire arc with Ishihara and Watari's relationship. We went from an uncomfortable look into adolescent romance into the most paint by numbers romance the world has ever seen! What happened to the edge!? Where is the suspense!? Not to mention the dynamic with Satsuki is so fucking boring. We tanked an actually compelling relationship for THIS!? My fucking god. I used to praise and recommend this manga to friends constantly because of the drama and tension surrounding Ishihara, but with this ending everything I enjoyed about it got fucking MURDERED! It's not as bad as the absolute mess that the last 10 chapters are of DomeKano, but god this is disappointing.

A bit of advice: If you have something compelling going for your story, FUCKING STICK TO IT! I can't believe how many stories get ruined because the author got cold feet and decided to change things up suddenly.

I also don't see this as a happy ending because Watari functionally cheated on Ishihara because he was manipulated by Satsuki's "woe is me" tactics which directly contributed to the collapse of their relationship. Honestly I would've been fine with it had the manga actually addressed this issue! God this pisses me off so much. I went through this exact situation in highschool and it ended horribly for everyone involved. My ex was worse for it, I was worse for it, and the manipulator just moved on to their next victim like nothing happened at all. The fact that this didn't end in even a fucking cat fight is so fucking illogical that I want to personally bury my fist in the author's face. Did they not understand how serious of an issue this change actually was!?

Some people will looking at my bitching and think I'm being salty as an "Ishihara stan" or whatever. No. I simply care that a story goes through with its potential and doesn't cuck me out of compelling ideas. This is bad writing, regardless of how anyone else feels about it.

Been on and off on this series since 2016 and ocassionally came back until one of the arcs is making this unberable (the arc where there's alot of stupid drama with black hair girl)

Im curious of how this series went, and here i am. Almost a decade later.

Take every interesting idea you have and disregard them. Satsuki simply guilt tripped Watari into dating her. The reasons for destroying the garden were just a petty "don't get attached to me" action. Satsuki has nothing interesting going with her at all. No like, superdark past, nothing. She's just a bitch. We don't learn what Glasses' deal is, either. All these interesting ideas at the start and the manga goes nowhere with them. Save yourself the frustration.
