That would certainly be the comedy route, but still begs the question: has she ever actually spoken with this idiot?
If that woman is in a fighting tournament and totally serious about it, my money is on her thinking the two of them exchanged plenty of words ... by communicating through their fists.

Naturally, all of those 'conversations' were very one-sided, leaving her totally misunderstanding his intentions, thus the marriage talk.

In other words, 1 wimpy idiot + 1 muscle-bound idiot = 1 dangerously idiotic duo.

His objection to the arrangement is understandable. His handling of it, on the other hand...

Boy's a whole-ass circus, not just a clown.

He offered to pay Haruka 60 coins to win the match when he isn't even in the tournament. The boy has no clue what the hell is actually going on, he's just hoping he can make things go his way by throwing his dad's money around.

Honestly, he could probably get her to want to annul the engagement herself he just interacted with her. I can't imagine most women wanting to have that guy's babies.
They interact plenty and it involves him repeatedly receiving physical pain. This can be reframed as a person trying to avoid a life of domestic violence so I don’t really give a damn about any objections over him not having enough tact for this scenario. Sure he flunked on the research, but he’s also not leaving a paper trail unlike what would have happened if he went through the guild and he has no reason to know any extenuating circumstances since he doesn’t strike me as a person anyone’s bothered to explain anything to in the first place.

His first appearance was him learning basics of travel despite his family having more than enough access to education and tutoring to have taught him years ago.

See, the impression I've got of him is that people tried to teach him and he's never bothered to listen to anyone.

Haruka's group is like the first group of people to ever manage to get through to this guy.

If an hour or so of practical experience taught him better than actual years of everyone else trying to teach him, that feels like an indictment of his family and teachers more than an indictment of him to me.

I dont understand why some people here think that Geats not wanting to marry is him acting spoiled cause of some reason like "other men have less or no marriage options".

I don't get why they're so hostile to him. He's friendly, a noble, above-board despite being a bit of a dumbass and pays decently. They should be cultivating that friendship because there's few things more useful than a noble that's friendly with you.

He's also dangerously incompetent and a total pain in the ass, besides having offended the girls on multiple occasions. The party wants nothing to do with him after the trouble he caused them last time.

Him being a noble with no power or know-how makes it dangerous for them to get involved. You don't board a sinking ship.

He's open to learning, does so fairly quickly, the "trouble" was barely a blip and he'll be getting power either way 'cause blood inheritance is funny like that.

Honestly I hate to say it, but Geats is a very unreliable narrator. His description of his father was way off, seeing as he turned out to be quite respectful, thoughtful, and self-aware. More than anything he was .ore upset that Geats lied for so long and dragged others into his conflict. So I'm wondering how the childhood "friend" turns out.

I'm sick of this dude Geats. He's just running away from his responsibilities. The only reason he gets to enjoy his lavish lifestyle is because he's a noble, a member of the military caste. Of course he's supposed to be doing military training.

I hope he gets forced into marraige.

Kind of off-topic but I tried to draw a manga panel for the first time, what do you all think?

The emotion is tangible and the leaves dancing in to wind and the slight glow the protag gives off has a sense of loneliness. I rather like it.

The standing pose could be looser and more natural around the shoulders and hips however, I think it's helpful if they're shown to be standing on uneven ground but that said this is better framing than I've ever done. <3
