I think Haruka misinterpreted the crowd's reaction?

Less "ordinary people find the strong revolting" (which always feels like an insane stance to me no matter how often I see it in manga, that's just not how human beings work) and more "the crowd was feeling the backwash from that much mana getting blasted out."

Haruka interpreting everything in the worst way seems on point though.

Getting a new brain but having your clinical depression carry over is kind a shit thing to have happen.
