i find it cosmic that squintboy clocks mino as male and yuuki as female even though both are technically FTM (against their own will, but still) (does that make them MTF? you get what you mean) like come on you cant win no matter which gender u present as

Having them end out the story as nonbinary or gender-fluid could definitely work, but it would need a lot of set-up.

Would be really cool, though. Not much NB rep in manga, as far as I'm aware
in my humble opinion the set up for it could have already started :D although i'd defend rinko's choices from a watsonian perspective, looking at it from the narrative constructed, i don't think the point of this manga is to chronicle the journey of a newly made trans girl born out of a fantastical circumstance. i think it's about good old-fashioned genderweird, on which non-binarism thrives \o/ though i could be wrong unfortunately nksjndk

Sometimes this series has a very weird way to say if its or not transfriendly or transphobic (for a reason Mino DONT change her gender to a girl again, dont know why)

the same author did another genderbend series, i remember it being more gorey tho/darker/edgier like the one who turned into a boy tried to use a box cutter on her dick or so, so yeah...

it's neither friendly or phobic toward that topic.
it's looking at it realistically.
of course there is the important difference in this story, that people change genders against their will, having lived in a gender they (in this story at least) felt comfortable in.
changing into a gender like that, must be a level of horror that nobody can imagine.
and even if the surgery is an option, as has been spoken about in this manga, it's never going to bring you back to the way you were.
this is about losing one of the things that made you, you, and having no way to somehow get it back again.
these people change into the opposite sex 100%, their minds are affected, their thoughts are affected, their personalities are affected against their will.

i would never go and compare this to transgender.

I must say, this kind of gender change can be equivalent to both body and mental torture. I know many people are fine with changing their biological gender but that's only because they are ready and want to do that. Imagine being a guy, one day you wake up, lost your "lil bro", then seeing ur body changin by day and u start looking at other mens in weird ways. I wouldn't want that to happen to anyone. I remember watching a movie like this, it was a "Identity killing process".

Many people shitting on fox eyes but he's my favorite so far. It's way too interesting.
I love that he has almost nothing against Mino (from what he says afterwards and is still vaguely (if not outright) attracted to her. But was particularly mean just to have Yuuki lash out at him, very well written asshole, he didn't just pick on a random person to get a reaction he had a target.
Also the fact he's not particularly bothered about whether you pick being a male or female and is solely bothered by people hiding they went through that change makes me expect there to be something else, since that it feels like a "value" rather than a "bias".
