sauron's backstory uniorincally i can imagine him being pretty boy who slowly valued himself over others because of fear of losing his pride

Dutch fantasy novel Kruistocht in Spijkerbroek, aka Crusade in Jeans by Thea Beckmann. Essentially a time travel story about a 16yo student travelling back from the 70's to Speyer Germany in 1212, getting involved in the event known as The Children's Crusade. It got a film but that veered heavily off course

The king of Russian isekai, the Keeper of the Swords series by Nick Perumov.

The other king of Russian isekai, the Sword With No Name trilogy by Andrey Belyanin.

I'd absolutely dig a Deathstalker manga, it'd be amazing as a Nihei Tsutomu-style adaptation. (Not sure other Simon Green series would work though)

Codex Alera would work pretty well as an anime/manga, the story is close enough to light novels in plot and developments.

  • Momo(Michael Ende)
  • The Neverending Story
  • Jim Button and Luke the Engine Driver
It's been a while since I've seen someone mention Riftwar. It would be amazing though.

Or maybe a series starring Elric of Melnibone
