Just found a copy of Trails in the Sky 1st, so I'm probably going to start there and make my way through Crossbell, Reverie and Daybreak.I recommend Trails. Could always play the first three games of Sky, and then take a break with some of the Ys series games.
Yesterday I was playing my weekly campaign with a group of friends and they kept asking me why all my armies were about bikini mail witches, despite having so many "cool crossbows". They finally understood after many consecutive bacchanalians.

I mean, when you can have strong units from the start and you choose to play as the Hag Queen... why playing with slow, weak units?
Def, I was running Skarbrand and cursed the few warriors of chaos he starts with, cause I finish all battles with the big S and the bloodletters, before those walking red turtles even reach the battle. Slow armies just suck unless everything you have is slow, sturdy and can regen infinitely.

The Two Point games tend to be good if you enjoy goofy facility management. Think Rollercoaster Tycoon.
Maybe you wanna try the God Eater series too, since they are somewhat connected to Code Vein.
