Exactly. Chapter 2 was way too much and this deserves a much lower rating.

This chapter felt like a breath of fresh air and hopefully the rapey personality MC is never brought up again. Chapter 1-2 felt like that other ghost roommate manga that got serialized and turned to shit

The only new information given to us that isn't a recap of things that occurred offscreen is that she's decided to cook for the both of them, and that her cooking isn't palatable by modern standards.

Obviously anyone can tell from chapters 1 and 2 that this isn't going to be the height of manga or anything, so it's kind of par for the course, but the person you're replying to definitely has a point. It would be much more effective to show the events that were recapped if you're going to have characters explain what happened anyway.

Especially since the characters already know what happened, they've literally talked about it already. So the only reason that they're having this repeat conversation is for us, when you could have just shown the original, more natural conversation

That's the thing though, the slice of life could very easily still be set up without having this chapter be a recap. Just have the chapter end with the understanding that going forward we'll be following the character's daily lives together.

There's nothing gained from doing things this way. Like I said, it's just a less natural version of a conversation the characters already had, leading to what would probably be the same chapter 4 either way

When I said nothing happens, I meant that all the relevant information is offscreened, not that I don't understand that it's meant to be a slice of life. You can tell that by actually reading my comment

In this series, mangaka used a certain "trope" to begin the plot. Is that "trope" behavior good? No, it isn't. But Rei prob has that fetish (which is prob why he was worried about his phone's content ), I'm sure plenty of people IRL also have that; otherwise, this trope wouldn't sell (not just in JP, Edit: famous series "Kuroinu" is a good example). However, it doesn't mean that all those people are assaulting any women they see on the road. There's a difference between "Fantasy" & "Reality". If you can't tell that difference, then you're prob more harmful to society than those people .
