it's safe to assume the mangaka is ending it to look after their child. it has gone on pause for that reason before

Well I think it was mentioned before in one of the author's comments but he's currently a university professor and also a father of his first baby daughter(?).

And apparently before he became a professor he was working as a school teacher all while doing this manga.

Goddamn it, the characters and their interactions were literally the best I've ever seen written before in a romcom. It's so good, I'll be so sad to see this one go. Makiba is probably my favorite romcom MMC ever honestly.
