I think it's good that it's ending instead of getting axed. "Quit while you're ahead" as they say. Plus, author probably wants to spend more time with his daughter until she's old enough. So it's understandable.
What if he ends this manga to take some time with his family, only to announce something like "see you soon in the next part" that would be a slight time skip with them as a couple
Agreed, I would even go so far as to say Fuyuko is one of my favorite female leads as well. They're an incredibly strong pairing and it's a shame that it's all going to be over soon.
