Nah, he's being extra dumb.

He stated 2 chapters ago that hitting the carotid would be the surest way to victory, but he was worried about the height difference. Except we see Hugo repeatedly drop his head to his height, and crouching, when trying to punch him. But he just crouches even further down to get bellied.

In this chapter we see him get inside Hugo's guard (from his missed punch), with the neck looking like its in range and what does he do? He just throws his knife into the air. He's got small throwing blades for that, but they're just missing in action.

Neither a child nor an adult can actually regrow cut off fingers, bro. Surgery can be used to kind of restore partial functionality, depending on circumstances, but unless it's a fetus, that finger stays gone.

What he should have done was get TF out of there, like he previously planned. This guy is way too OP and he's in no shape to fight. It's already an unbelievable stroke of luck that crushing the small bones of his toe made him lose balance, that was his chance to leg it.

Hugo seems to be pretty good at reading and diverting knife attacks to non critical areas. It makes sense to me that Yajin read this and instead used the knife as bait to set up the windpipe attack.
