I think it also goes easier on the readers. When you show them something familiar like a maid cafe or 'jelly-filled donut', it's just self explanatory, but if you invent something new or bring up some obscure period-accurate thing, you'd have to spend a page or two describing it to make sure it won't confuse them.
Skill issue on the readers part.

Because authors don't have as much imagination as they think they do. They can crib the basic swords & sorcery look and feel from a dozen JRPGs or older fantasy manga, but when it comes time to depict something new they panic and just use the easiest modern equivalent and hand-wave its existence in the setting as magic or whatever.
I'm fairly certain isekai authors know they're making pure uninspired slop. It's like old timey pulp fiction.

Uh.. oh dear.. another female.. the carnage ahead won't be pretty.. :worry:
Yeah, another woman would make Eleonore go nuclear. 😆
Be careful Arcs.

Next Chapter :

Eleonore (skipping at him happily) : Aaaaaaarcs :hearts:!! (hugging him tightly)

Arcs : Yes, yes, I missed you too, milady... so, how did your exam went ?

Eleonore : Well, I... (suddenly stops and grabs his hand, sniffing the tip of his fingers)... Aaaaarcs... (darkness surrending her)...
WHY DO I SMELL THE FAINT SCENT OF ANOTHER WOMAN ON YOUR FINGERTIPS !?

(Then again, maybe she didn't unlocked that advanced Yandere skill yet lol)

It has at least been a thing since 782 AD with the Palace School of Charlemagne in Aachen. It was an actual institution inside the court where the children of the royal family and high-ranking nobles were sent to learn diplomacy, martial arts, and Latin together.
Really now? That's fascinating. I knew there were some monasteries that served as schools and that there were some "educational programs" for noble children in the palace or something, but I thought the earliest examples of places dedicated to children's education was a thing of late 13th century onwards.

Like I said last time, it feels like the thought of joining should have come up much, much sooner with how much separation anxiety Eleanore has.

Has he forgotten that he's in the world of the game after all these years?

As usual, Eleonor is stuck to the MC like glue. Wholesome chapter :meguu:

b0fc6o.jpg

★ Eleonor’s thrilled he’ll take the test. At her inn, Arcus is told to stay in Eleonor’s room so he rests well. He insists on the sofa; she has him “just try the mattress”… and he wakes up the next morning having slept like a log thanks to a bit of sleep magic. She teases him; Arcus doesn’t get the joke. (Sanitized.)

★ Exam day: Eleonor tests with the nobles, Arcus with the Knight Class. The Knight queue is massive becoming a knight can change your status. While waiting, Arcus finds a slip with the name Ema Helena familiar, but he can’t place it.

★ Arcus aims for top score to snag that scholarship:

 • Magic: perfect wind shot examiners are stunned.

 • Sword: he defeats an active knight examiner.

 • Team battle: his random teammates are Ema Helena (which is weird she should be the Saint-route heroine, not Knight Class) and Reine Deon (baron family). Ema’s a magic type with a spark skill that just dazzles foes (Arcus remembers it should weaken demons / strong heal, but here it’s only a flash). Reine’s a sword talent with charm. They win: two enemies get caught by charm + spark; the last nearly eats Arcus’s finisher before the examiner stops it as too dangerous. Arcus earns the nickname “Test Breaker.”

★ After the exam, Arcus chats with his teammates on the way to Eleonor unaware Eleonor’s been watching. She immediately asks about “those two girls.” Jealousy flares; she blinds him with her ability for a moment, and he comes to on her lap, lightly restrained. To calm her, he says they’re not his type, adding he actually prefers older women. She goes quiet not mad, but she doesn’t unbind him right away.

★ First day of class, Arcus ends up in the same class as Ema. She guides him in; everyone’s in awe from his exam feats and pepper him with questions. Ema rescues him by reminding the room the teacher’s about to arrive.

thank you for translation

didn't mc saved Eleonore before? i feel like if a servant deserves a special treatment it is him so this talk about tuition felt weird since they should have more than enough money to support him, and he can also act as her personal guard gaining a new talented knight for the house, they just win by supporting him, from what i remember they know how talented he is after all

Here comes the heroine :aquadrink:
She'd better not try anything with Arcs lest she beckon the wrath of Eleonore

You mean authors have to devote pages to worldbuilding and story making sense?! Reeeeeeee
