It ends!
I miss reading this series, maybe I should reread it now that it's been brought to mind again.

which one is better, the Joker one or the Online? Remember liking one of them over the other, but can't remember which one it was =02

@frubam i think you're supposed to read both side by side since there's some event happening in one that doesn't happens in the other, yet treated as if it's happening in that one.
i remember the one in batoto have chapters from both interspersed with each other so the chapters count practically doubled, but it's the "right" way to read it.
something along that line. i only managed to read halfway before batoto gone, all the while never noticed that it's from 2 different source until i see that i'm reading chapter 30-ish as chapter 70-ish.

@mage_goo To add to that, they both appear in the tankobon, hence why the chapter count on mal is the sum of the two versions.

oh man!!! I had completely lost track of this one, veiled blessings in batoto's passing.
That kiss, oh god, the feels.

I prefer the other version because this one has family drama after chapter 50 or so. Still a good read, and I guess solving Manabu’s family problems had to be done...though it loses a bit of the silliness which makes this whole series so great.

9 ? wow. Just wow.
i do enjoy these sweet thing but it just jump out and say they are in love. i would prefer some development. I see manga with the couple is together but way better. Character also too stereotyped. this is mediocre at best

Still one of my favorite series of all time. Although it has its weaker moments, the stronger ones make me forget all about them every time I read this. Beneath the silliness there is more depth and humanity than just about any other manga I've found, yet neither feels out of place. It's a rare series where I go from chuckles to tears without ever feeling like one was out of place. There isn't a single manga out there that I think has hit me in the feels harder than this one. It's probably not for everyone, and I'm sure a lot of people won't agree with me on that, but for me this is a solid 10/10. It has its flaws but its strengths more than make up for it.

@Tcof I'm getting the feeling you actually haven't read very far in if you think the characters are too stereotyped, or that there isn't much development. It takes its time fleshing them out, but this is one of the most complex and interesting cast of characters I've seen in manga, and trust me, I have read a hell of a lot. The series is actually fairly philosophical at its core as well. There is a surprising amount of moral complexity and deep themes buried under what seems like a lot of fluff at first. I'm not going to blame anyone for dismissing this series at first, because I think it doesn't fully come into its own until quite late in the story, but try to at least get through to the end before you start dismissing everyone else's opinion on it.

@penrosecat For me the family and relationship drama's were where the series was at its strongest. The silliness was entertaining for the most part, but I would have said it was weaker than the drama. I almost never actually laughed out loud reading this. I absolutely cried though, and there are not a lot of series that I can say that about.

ConstantErasing is right. This is one of the best manga I red and I red some. Tcof just haven't read YK enough when he left that comment. The series starts as a silly comedy with a couple of tropes but it turns into the great drama without autor trying to jerk out as much tears as possible from the readers and still makes one laugh (sic!).

good read. main character has mightier plot armor than Natsu of Fairy Tail. its start 75% yankee 25% kanojo and slow become 50% 50% and 25% 75%. near the end, the author try to bring up the yankee percentage but the feeling still kanojo 90%.
i remember i read on Onemanga site few years back(now the site is close). the uploader sort of combine the online series with gangan joker without messing up the storyline so we can have better reading experience.

Mangadex really should have mixed both series together like batoto did

Well it's pretty good i guess but the last arc just drags on for a little too long and also it just takes out the fun part from the series and makes it a drama all of a sudden the best part about this manga is the beginning chapter but the author really didn't capitalize on the Yankee girlfriend thing a shame really.
Also yeah cmon Mangadex it sucks ass that the characters are talking about things that are happening in Joker you should really combine both series .....

Agreed, the first time I read this one, the site I found it on had them mixed together by numbering one of the two as X.1 so you'd go from chapter 1 of one version to chapter 1 of the other. This might be the more "correct" way to upload them since they're technically separate publications, but it's way less convenient to read it this way.

Yeah, it's kind of annoying that these two are split up and apparently aren't just re-treading similar ground. I read the entire other version and found its ending really lacking only to find that this was just as important to read as the other one. What a pain...
