This god just really wants to screw Van for his own amusement. I wonder if he kills the guy with a similar name who seemed like an ass and eventually kills this god to become one himself

He doesn't, really. Rodcourte wants Van off the table before the gods of Lambda figure out what he's doing with the 100 reincarnated souls for Lambda. And Rodcourte fully believes the deranged rant that Van dripped when he was furious about being killed after being tortured for 20 years. His plan was to drop a bunch of curses on Amemiya/Vandelieu so he'd get slain while he was a baby, then Rodcourte would recycle his soul and pop him back in the system, memories and grudge erased, and not care about him anymore.

A several things prevented this, including Van recovering his memories while still a baby, and Van having crazy mana and Death-attribute magic.

But as they say, "it's not the crime , it's the coverup."

Thanks for translating.

That fire lady in the cover looks... off. Like, the proportions and perspective doesn't seem right.

We need more Eleanora. Eleanora is love. Eleanora is life.

That is like saying your wish is to be paid in penuts instead of cash. He is asking for too little. Okay he gets to be a rich kid, who is terminally ill. See not only is his request too small, it has too many loopholes

The thing is: There is no enforcement mechanism at all for Rodcourte's side of the deal if Kanata succeeds.

If Rodcourte decides to renege and strip Kanata's memories and push his soul back into the reincarnation cycle to randomly (or deliberately) become a bug or a plant or something, Kanata will neither have the memories, nor the mental faculties, nor the ability to complain to anyone about how badly he was treated by the deity almost nobody knows about.

Not that Kanata knows this, he just wants a rich, cushy life with the minimal required responsibility to sustain it. But inherent in the "filling wish loopholes" trope is the assumption that the genie has to follow the letter of the wish... and Rodcourte doesn't.
