If that was the case, the author would've shown it. I have no doubt he vaguely cares about her as the mother of his children, but there's no love lost between the two of them. We've already seen their culture is to discard of women around a certain age unless they can function as a servant, this guy is no exception.

Was literally going to write something along the same lines as this, it felt like he knew if he didn't make her hate him, that she'd feel bad about leaving him for Ceres, and that would keep her down and depressed for a while before getting over it.
So, instead of that, he decided to simply act as if he never liked her anyway, and that it was good riddance to finally have her gone, all so the band-aid would be ripped off and she'd be able to focus on living happily for once right off the bat.
