Thanks for the replies to this comment! I was honestly expecting some bs plot like he wasn't supposed to exist so the world is influencing people into keeping him from changing the world anymore.
I guess I've read too many trash Isekai that it feels weird to expect characters to have some background.
It is a bit of a screw up, no idea if it is from TL or Manga. Angesheit is Anze/Ange. Rochehart is Roche. Those are just their first names. Quite literally, no relation. I glanced over it, but yeah. Ange is the short form that Wolka called her as a child.
Edit: From the WN, to the best of my Knowledge,
Angesheit is ン ジ ェ ス ス ハ イ ト
Rochehart is 士 ロ ッ ュ ハ ル ト
Missed the ア on Ange's name there, but yeah you're right. It's -heit and -hart, and both are still direct parts of the first name. So even if they're really related, it won't be revealed by that happenstance name similarity.
Roche is the guy. Divine/Holy Knight. Very capable of doing almost any task needed. He's also a guy who tries to do the best he can without being controlling for Wolca.
Anze is one of the four saints. And each of their titles as a saint deals with the powerset they have.
Wolca just is horrendously dense over things not involving swords. His brain runs on swords and training pretty hard. It is a recurring problem for him to be able to put his feelings into words well (this is explicitly pointed out repeatedly). The first of the times should have already occurred.
Well firstly, these people have known Wolca a while and while I don't think they were straight out in love with him there were at least respect and budding feelings that would eventually develop into love.
Secondly, with the attack in the dungeon, Wolca was the only one able to fight the reaper and the only one injured, so the girls are hit with the survivors guilt of both not being able to help Wolca and Wolca being the only one injured. So they feel twice the responsibility as they did not help and did not suffer. This plus the fact that the reaper was infamous and considered nigh unbeatable only adds to this.
Thirdly, Wolca practices Iaijutsu which pretty much doesn't exist in this world and by all accounts should not work, but he made it work through sheer stubborn and hard work. This is one of the reasons the girls and roche are drawn to him, with slight differences. The fact that he lost his eye and leg, makes it so that he can't do Iaijustsu like he could before and the group feel like his future has been cutoff and its their fault as well.
So basically they all feel that wolca, someone they care about, promising and unique future was destroyed because they weren't able to do anything and they feel responsible for it double so, because they were saved hale and whole.
What tipped them over the edge though, is that Wolca seemed to not think anything about it and is just glad that everyone is safe. That all that stuff was trivial and he was just happy that everyone is safe. That basically put the girls into super guilt mode, that Wolca would not even condemn them and would only express happiness at their good fortune.
So they condemn themselves and vow to never leave Wolca's side again. Ever.
The manga should be getting into the Wolca and girls backstory soon, to expand on their relationships.
I'll add a spoiler from a later chapter for context
What if Wolka had not been crippled?
What if Yuritia had not needed to be protected in that moment—if she had instead fought alongside him that day?
What if her support could have prevented him from losing that irreplaceable leg?
There would have been nothing to stop the transcendence of his swordsmanship. His name would have spread far and wide as a master swordsman, at an unbelievable age; he would have gone down in history as a saint of the sword—a practitioner of the blade who brought about the dawn of a new age for the weapon.
He, a swordsman weighed down by an unspeakable past he could not share with anyone else, should have been rewarded in such a way.
But he was not—the bright future that should have awaited him had broken and become an unending path of thorns… because of Yuritia.
Her sin cannot be forgiven. It matters not what kind words Wolka has for her; she cannot ever be forgiven for what she has done.
That day, Wolka had protected Yuritia and the others, and he had been prepared to sacrifice his life to do so.
And after that, even after what had happened to him, he still wished for them to be happy.
What is it, then, that Yuritia wishes for?
(I want to be for you, Senpai, and only for you–all of me, all that I ever will be, forever and forevermore…)
Her deepest desire is to repay Wolka with everything she can and will ever be able to offer.
That, alone, will serve as her atonement. And that, alone, will serve as her happiness.
Don't worry though, Wolca is down but he ain't out.
Another layer that plays more into the reason that church-affiliated folks are infatuated with him:
He knows this world is grimdark and laments the writer and his reincarnation into it. When religious folks get a glimpse of that, it's interpreted as "condemning god for his fate and for the state of the world" (which isn't directed at their god but they can't know that) they are mortified, but knowing what happened to him, can't really blame him for it. However, Wolca also loves world and the people in it, which perplexes them how someone can be so cynical yet kind.
When are they gonna address his missing eye? He now has a massive blindspot now, right? Id like to see him get startled by someone walking to his right
Thank you for the chapters.
I imagine the Quickdraw techniques would be an absolutely insane technique in a RPG world, especially considering the man literally cut down what they'd have considered to be a representation of death itself.

It's the title. The teammates are sick ("yanda") with guilt.
To be fair, they are all 1 misstep (heh) away from confining Wolca for life, he's trying his best to avoid that. so the label seems appropriate. Not every yandere is psychopathic serial killer gf. We can expand the definition to any character that has feelings for another, stemming from a psychological obsession or admiration.
There is a later character who seems like she will be obsessed with Wolca in a much more murdery way though, if that's would be closer to your definition of yandere

So both this saintess lady and the holy knight probably were stronger than the mc and could have dealt with the chapter 1 boss enemy with out being crippled?

Not by themselves. It would probably take another Holy Knight to be on the safe side, and not an ambush like Wolca and party had. Wolca, if he wasn't crippled, would have been fast tracked. He technically still could be fast tracked, and it isn't even nepotism on either Ange/Anze or Roche's parts.
Red ogre can't teach him what he wants - their combat and sword style is completely opposite. Wolca is basically pulling off 1 draw 1 kill like a Battousai while red ogre literally focuses on personal defense first and foremost. Also note that the red ogre isn't/wasn't even anywhere near the strongest in terms of all the measurables. He was basically a high wisdom fighter/tactician with insight into most engagements and protecting the party. Red Ogre could've been a paladin if he tried instead though IMO.
If it means anything, there should be master craftsman in this world that can and should be able to craft prosthetic he could use.
Hell, from what I remember, "Greenwich" Armor had fully articulated joints and other insane details that could be translated into prosthetic limbs. In a fantasy world with magic it shouldn't be that hard to make minor physics defying stuff replacing cables and harnesses to build Wolca a stronger-than-flesh limb.
I wouldn't say "rare", it is mostly because harem genre and tropes ruined people's sense of normal-ish same-sex social relationships. Normal people like hanging out with like-minded people, same-gender or not. In fact we'll find out that Wolca is mostly normal except for his sword skill-obsession.
And said knight is actually just as sword-crazed/focused as Wolca is - with roughly the same skill level as Wolca before Wolca's injury.
Wolca is hinted to become better than him, skill-wise from what I've read, but atm they aren't sparring nor competing because of Wolca's injury.
