I acknowledge your first point might apply, even if they don't really mention that being the case, I suppose we'll see next chapter. But the point to keeping extra armor? If the first set of armor is damaged perhaps? Different types of armor for different types of enemies?
this little moment of arrogance from that receptionist actually sets off an international crisis. Which was kind of over the top, but serves as acceptable exposition about the character.
Maybe I'm wrong but I skimmed through the novel and
hated that this ***** got relatively no punishment from the organization for massive abuse of power, bullism, incompetence and literally getting Japan humilated in the eyes of the world for her action.
I checked some of it and the NTR guy and the bitch got massive karma, but I dodn't recall seeing anything about this one as the MC is a wimp and asked for the interested parties to not be punished too heavily, he wasn't interested in seeing them getting their right punishmnet under the rules they ignored and that made the little opinion I had of him crumble.
We can't let pass how a organization hired people to manage adventurers and perceive them as below freelancers and don't understand what they actually do for the country and how making one angry is a step below to red flagging a bull.
Is very sad that japanese authors mostly write MC that forgive or ignore evil doers and let them free counting they will not do it again after a light punishment, if any, manga is plagued from this types.
This story have a super forced start to put MC down morally and in his career, even if he doesn't need a job anymore, it gets a bit better later, but could have been executed better.
.... I'm more curious about how the MC thinks armor he got for himself will fit this teenage girl? Unless he's just storing armor her size for some reason?
So Japan is full of idiots. That actually is a nice twist. It is usually the other way around, MC's home country is the best and everywhere else is stupid.
Is the guild/S rank party that holds up thanks to one person cliche, just this time is in modern world Japan and is the whole organization managing adventurers, somehow a lot of employee don't have any idea who they are managing, is not only MC that got mistreated, it simply had nuclear repercussions in his case.
And is really the reason I dislike this MC, it was fine when his world was crushed after discovering how he was cheated on, he was shocked and simply let everything pass, of course obeying the NTR guy and giving his card was retarded and forced from the author, but then MC did it a second time, and let it pass again, ignoring how 2 peopel in the organization are creating problems to peopel and he is unaffected for his own bank account, normal people would be messed up by actions like that.
Is even worse later because when everything is revealed MC asks for them to not be punished or the agency to go light on them, he wasn't interested in the whole thing and didn't predict how it would bite back the villain, he was fine with terrible people managing people that worked with him in a dangerous place and getting payed a lot for it.
Dude got a cuck hentai protagonist spine.
The only annoying thing is why he is just so passive about all... well i guess is because he has money and the reason why he began being an adventurer is no more, so he is now just going with the flow
Kind of want him to just go to another country where all the things they did to him are, at least, harder to do...
The story is not good, but i read these because of karma
If she hates adventurers so much, why is she working as a receptionist for the Adventurer's Guild? I can at least understand if some moron bigwig like the dude in the first chapter might not know who the MC is (even though he really should), why in the hell doesn't the receptionist? She clearly knows the guy at some level since she immediately starts talking shit about him, did she never once interact with him in a way that would inform her of just how stupidly strong he is? Never had the MC turning in a quest with some dragon bones or something to show him killing extremely tough monsters?
Hell she's got that computer right in front of her, is there NOTHING in that system that has EVER told her "hey this guy is an SSS rank adventurer"? Does the MC's ID card just not say anything about his rank either?
This story is the kind that's so frustrating to read because it can only unfold the way it does if everyone involved is massively stupid - and that includes the me who continues to read it.
in the web novel she gets a fair amount of early on story time. We find out that she took that position because it was expected of her. That is to say that she was always pushed to find stable employment because her dad lived through a bad recession. So she went into civil services in order to have that kind of stability. She also thought that it would make them proud. But it turns out what they actually wanted from her was for her to be happy. So as part of her repentance, she eventually becomes an adventurer herself and turns out to be rather good. She, unlike the other guy, was redeemable and she becomes better as a result.
Story definitely feels like a 20 year olds first attempt at writing a novel. But this stuff sells so I'm happy the writer is finding some manner of success.
....I know a lot of people are probably going to comment about how this guy has now been blacklisted despite being literally the only SSS rank member by a random receptionist but I'm more curious about how the MC thinks armor he got for himself will fit this teenage girl? Unless he's just storing armor her size for some reason?

rarely do I drop a series after just 2 chapters... but i feel like i overstayed past the first in hopes that the second made it better.... yeah, that didn't happen. a warning to all reading the comments.... yes, it really is that trash.

Oh she got a few chapters dedicated to her. The story overall is just OK.
A good time killer while I'm at work and have down time to pick up the tablet and read something. Its no Thomas Harris novel and its not shakespeare, but overall the author did actually give the characters some kind of resolution. In her case its a redemption arc that I'm genuinely happy about.
You know, I've read a few stories of this type now, but I've never actually seen that particular trope come up before and now multiple people have mentioned it to me. Seems obvious in hindsight but it genuinely didn't occur to me.
