At this point, I'm hoping that this MC won't end up with any of the girls in this series lol. I mean, he's so dense asf. Most of the girls are trying to get close to him, but the MC is just being passive toward all of them. I'm not surprised if he also rejects the childhood friend (childhood friendzoned) before going back to Tokyo for his "forever sharemates".

We discussed this before but he is a Sasuga Kei male lead. He is purposefully written as retarded and braindead as possible to keep the drama mill going. This is just how she writes. Just enjoy the art.

Okay that's a lot in one chapter.

Tsubasa gets indirectly rejected because MC is dense-enough to not notice the subtler signs of things, beats herself up and pulls her usual "kill my liver to also kill my feelings" and ends up sleeping with a colleague (subordinate?)
The morning after should be fun to see there.

Poor Lili also gets rejected because Himori thinks that's what she still wants because she also can't be honest and communicative yet, so now that's two rejected share mates to make things awkward. At least Lili might not run to her peer in the art department for "comfort" like Tsubasa did, but who knows at this point. (I don't see it happening, if only because I have to believe she's resolved enough to not just run away a second time, just like that.)

Big fuckin' news with Nurse-san, though. I can't wait to see what their date looks like, and what it means for him and his scheduled return to Tokyo. (I'm sure he'll be returning, but I'd love to see a "delay" where he has a self-discovery fling with his old crush and maybe learns a bit more about himself and what he wants in life.) Maybe the date will go nowhere and they'll realize there's nothing of substance, but that in itself might be good, because it could help Himori close the door on his hometown and go back to Tokyo knowing he didn't leave things unanswered.
(I still want it to happen, but that's because I like her more than any of the other 5 at present except the Dancer who at least has her shit together - but I know that the narrative works better if Hiromi returns, so.)

Kinda impressed with how much gets packed into every chapter, if I'm honest.

It's been a while since I read the Tsubasa chapters, but didn't she suggest they make the fake engagement thing real? Or imply it in some way?

I'm glad you brought this up. Looking back at Chapter 13, Tsubasa does try to propose that if they haven't found anyone by the time they turn 30, they could start a real relationship. But before she can even finish, Hiromi surprises her, and she immediately walks it back.

This goes back to my original point, that she lacks confidence. She backs down right away because she doesn’t believe in herself, which is also why she turns to drinking to cope with her vulnerability.

Just like in the recent chapter, she proposes something, then instantly walks it back because she feels like she doesn’t stand a chance. Which is strange, because out of all the girls, I think she’s one of the best. She might even be the only one who genuinely has a chance, if she just doubled down, believed in herself, and actually pursued Hiromi.

She’s a beautiful woman, and I don’t understand why Hiromi wouldn’t see her as a love interest.

Well, I said the confession was poorly timed and primed to cause trouble. Trouble has arrived! Now all the sharemates are antsy while Hiromi uses the word like an executioner's axe.

Team Tsubasa is spinning, but I'll give us a lttle cope- this is Sasuga Kei, her characters have come back from worse. (Remember that Domestic Girlfriend ended with a comatose-from-behind victory. She took several L's but she's not out of the race.

My hopeful take on Tsubasa is that this low point becomes a wake up call, she fixes her bad habits, and she crawls back to the top. Stop running from problems, stop abusing the booze, learn some emotional regulation and communication skills. Long term, this is a good thing for Tsubasa if it kickstarts a training arc. Seeing a character get focused growth is a sign she's headed for greatness.

How badly did Tsubasa mess up? She messed up her confession, and hooked up with a coworker while feeling pitiful. At best I think she'll feel ashamed and regret that she'll need to work through. She might continue to self destruct if she doesn't get a handle on her emotional crash-out. Worst case is she becomes entangled in a work relationship or gets in trouble for messing with a coworker. Loss of job would really sting.

Hey, I noticed that Tsubasa and Hiromi are on opposite arcs:
Hiromi- returned home, reconnected with an old flame, went to hotel with her but didn't have sex, got invited to a date. He's taking it slow and cautiously.
Tsubasa - Left home to force a visit on Hiromi, got rejected, went to hotel with coworker and had sex, has hurt her chances of dating Hiromi. She's forcing things and taking chances.

Last interesting thing is Hiromi's reaction to the confession. Anju said he was being dense, but I'm not sure. I think Hiromi didn't expect a confession but he knows the sharemates are into him. When Tsu said "I want to be with you forever" Hiromi figured out it was a confession and decided to turn her down gently. He's not ready to start a ship, and he recognizes that it could ruin the sharehouse. So he made the best choice available and set a boundary for sharemates. It's the least damaging choice. Imagine how much worse it would be if he rejected her bluntly, or accepted?
