Question about group upload restrictions being turned on after uploads were made.

So Asmodeus Scans recently turned on group upload restriction after having it disabled since the group was created. Several people, including myself, uploaded non-paywalled chapters from their site during that time.

I checked my uploads for this series and saw that the group was changed to "No Group" automatically. My question is this change documented server-side automatically so we don't get in trouble for unintentional group-lock evasion?

Edit: I just checked this other series and the group is displaying normally there, so I have no idea what's going on.

Afaik there's no procedure changing/removing group attributions when a group gets locked, especially not automated.
Maybe the GL edited the chapters to remove their group's credits
I don't see why staff would, but lets wait for them to reply.

And to get in trouble for group lock evasion, you'd have to be reported first (and someone has to actually take action), so when that happens, I'd just open a report (on the title or your profile) in response or get in touch with staff directly to clear the misunderstanding...
Changes are logged but the logs aren't easily accessible so it's not that your statements can't be proven, but it'll be quite the pain for mods to go and bug a dev about it...

Yeah, I'm just concerned that if the GL did remove the group they would falsely report me afterwards for lock evasion as a sort of retailation. People get weird when money is on the line.

Yeah who knows, but given your explanation
"I uploaded them to the correct group before it was locked, which was later removed by a third party"
even if you got reported and sanctioned based on this report, I think you (or anyone else affected) should have no issues appealing that decision providing your part of the story.
That's certainly not how group lock evasion works.

Assuming the group's behind this, at most they can request staff to remove the chapters...

However, there’s no report from either the group leader or the group members. I also checked for reports directly tied to the chapter and the title page in case someone else reported them, but neither search returned any relevant reports regarding the chapters you mentioned.

With no clear reason for a mod to remove the group from these chapters, it seems likely that the group leader manually removed the group from the uploads.

That said, as mentioned earlier, I have no straightforward way to confirm this, so this should be considered an educated guess.

Thanks for clearing that up. If there is a suggestion list for the next site version, could you add "simple notification to uploader for group changes", so at least we get a heads up if the group leader does remove their name from an upload?
