Also, this guy keeps jumping between his physical age and his chronological age, and MC should really just choose one and stick to it; every time he starts doing something smart, he makes up for it by acting like a much younger child than he is.

It's a bit disconcerting; like the writer gets a block and just has the MC act stupid/reckless/foolish to make up for the lack of plot.
I mean... Which would be fine, since he is literally a child, but it happens in such a random and unbelievable way that, well... it feels kinda dumb.
Not bad, exactly, but... like I would have to be dumb to accept the story.
