Yeah, this is questionable at best as armor. Even if it can miraculously stop błades from penetrating, it does nothing for lessening the impact force. What is he even going to use this for, ballet?

Nah it's perfect for him. It has flexibility and covers his entire body. He's the agile type and uses hands and feet for combat, paired with a small blade, so it's close quarter combat for him. Having not cut but just get pushed by force is better for survival don't you think so?

Nope. He killed the cub of that fox first and left it in the forest, and when he came back it was gone but he encountered the parent which he brought back this time. He didn't know it was a valuable material at first.
His armor/body suit is made of a sea monster btw.

i guess we'll see next chapter what actual armor this "armor" has, if it's only good for te environment then it was a waste of money and the fox would have been better, at least it had some armor to it.

He got that new bodysuit that allows him to move faster without being slowed down by elements. like to move though mud to escape from his enemies.
he swims just fine with it on.
and i do think it keeps him warm too which is a bonus in that area he is in.
for a karate master it is a perfect thing to have.. an armor would have slowed him down and might have turned him into an easy prey if you didn't train to use an armor at all. the Bodysuit is FAR easier and protects him in other means.

Ok, it's this Walrus Rank 5 monster where he got the skin. So that's what they finished for 60 gold back when he first arrived. So they dangled self repairing armor and then took that shit away.

Can you imagine the specs on armor that doesn't need maintenance?! Dark Souls would have been so much easier with that

Not getting cut is better than being naked, but a body suit offers less protection than just wearing several shirts. Several shirts stops blows from padding and also prevents cuts by sheer mass and also doesn't actually restrict movement. It's not invincible, but it's very cheap to make and offers substantial protection.

This is why gambeson was the most popular armor in the medieval period.

That's a very tight fit. It seems to only offer protection against cuts (slashes and piercing) so blunt force trauma will be what takes him down. That or something very sharp.

Pushed? A sword that does not cut him will still concentrate force on a tiny amount of surface, becoming a rather effective crushing weapon. While the probability that said sword breaks in the process rises, his bones will break pretty much for certain. Effective armor must have at least some capability to absorb such force, this is why you never wore mail (which also makes you impossible to cut) on it's own.

Well, it depends. A regular, IRL fox? Yeah, good for a loincloth maybe. A monster fox the size of a large dog? Maybe enough for a small cuirass.

IRL it would not matter what animal it came from, it would just be leather, but the foxhide here was said to have self-reparing properties, which I imagine would extend to the entire armor piece. So yeah, it would be worthwhile to have something that you don't need to maintain, provided it was made sensibly and used with proper padding, rather than a gimpsuit like shown here.

He is wearing what is essentially very baggy underwear. It's going to go a long way towards preventing an outline of anything.
