The biggest adult game piracy site also has a similar policy, and they don't interpret it liberally to remove as much as possible, they generally only remove obvious or clear-cut examples of nudity with clearly prepubescent characters. I would expect MD to act similarly; though it's true the one mod phrased things aggressively at first, they corrected themselves so I suspect MD is trying to honestly preserve as much culture as they can amidst this policy.

If removal becomes more aggressive in the future, I would hope that everyone comes together and finds ways to solve or mitigate the problem, like what happened when Tachiyomi was targeted.

But the paranoid part of me thinks that the timing of this and Discord's changes may not be a coincidence...

Ironic isn't it? The core founding members of MangaDex were from Doki Fansubs, which specialized in loli series.

I remembered the day when doki fansub stand up and created MD, Bato.to get sold, and the translation group start moving to a newly open MD.
MD has gotten worse since the hacking incident.

If you're talking about F95, their application of their rule on this is hilariously uneven. There are hundreds of loli h-games on the site. It just depends on if the mod who's chosen to screen it has a personal vendetta against this content or not.

Yes, it's very unfortunate. And it's strange that MangaDex would try to cater to "Western laws" in the first place, since so many scanlators and readers are outside of the West.

Manga is absurdly popular in South America and Asia. Manga is even quite popular in the Middle East.

So what the MangaDex staff are really saying is: "We're going to heavily censor because we're catering exclusively to Anglo countries, and everybody outside of Anglo countries can go screw themselves, we don't care about you, go away."
